Topic: Spotting During 2WW After IVF Posted: 29 April 2009 at 7:50am |
Hi There,
I had egg transfer on Monday 20 April. On Sunday 26 April I started having very slight dark brown spotting vaginal bleeding. It has continued on and off since then. The spotting has been extremely light. Only noticable when I insert pessaries, or slightly when I wipe myself. In fact, yesterday it was extremely minimal.
Also, I have had cramping too although this has eased off. Not bad at the moment but can still feel sort of ache type feeling. It feels like cramping before AF due to arrive.
My pregnancy blood test is Friday 1 May.
Does anyone have any suggestions what could be causing this, and I would appreciate your sharing your experiences during this 2WW period.

Hi Daizy01, can't really help you but just wanted to wish you the best of luck for Friday, I hope it is just implantation bleeding your having which can occur after the transfer.
Fingers crossed for you!

HI Daizy01, well it looks like we are both playing the waiting game! I had my embryo transfer on the 22nd...
I remember having a bit of spotting with my first pregnancy, I rung the Frteility Clinic and they didnt seem overly worried about it... it could just be implant bleeding....
Man, I hate the 2ww period! Im soooo nervous about my BT on Sunday .
Do you have any other symptoms yet?? I had a few
twingey pains last week but that seems to have finished now... other than that... NOTHING!

Thanks for your good wishes, Scaredy Cat. I hope everything works out for you this year.
Sarahlou, it is an extremely nerve wracking time isn't it. This is my third IVF attempt and this time I am a lot more relaxed and positive. Positive thoughts brings positive results!
All I have felt during the 2WW is cramping and spotting (dark brown or pink). My cramping has eased and I notice this morning that the spotting has eased a lot. Hardly anthing at all this morning.
I hear some women say they feel nausea, have sore breasts, etc. I've felt none of that, just cramping and spotting.
Hey, I wish you all the best with your blood test on Sunday.
Let us know how you get on.

No Mummymegs it isnt....
This is the second time it has worked. We have had 2 perfect embryo thaws and transfer and it didnt work!! I know Im probably being a drama queen cause there are so many other out there who have tried so many more times than us, Im just so puzzled to why it didnt work for us? Our first ever embryo took straight away, maybe it was begginers luck!? Im just SO over bad news all the time!!
We have decided we will give it another go if my AF turns up (which most of the time it doesnt because of PCOS) and in the meantime we have an appointment with our Private Specialist on Friday to see if he thinks my endo may need another clean up to give us a better shot! God I hope he says no! thats not a nice op to have done.... We just dont want to keep trying and waste the * embies we have left!! does that make sense or do you guys think Im over reacting about the whole thing??

Hi Sarahlou,
Wishing you all the best for the 2WW, hope it flys by for you and you get the best news ever at the end of it.
I have just stated my first TER this month (today) so will be in the dreaded 2WW in about two weeks I think, not sure exactly how long it takes, I think I'm on a manufactured cycle as I started taking the pill today, or is that normal?
Take care

Thanks ScaredyCat!! It sounds like its a normal cycle.... I do manufactured cycles because I dont get a period on my own, I take provera (little blue tab twice a day for 7 days) to bring on AF...Is this the pill you are taking or is it actually THE PILL? If it is provera you are taking then yeap it will be aout 2-3 weeks till your TER. Anyway... the 2ww is plain horrible , and Im really hoping its third time lucky for me and DH!
Im really not looking forward to it, im so sick of getting my hopes up to be shot down at the end of it all....oh well, I know I do have to stay positive....I will do my best.
Have you had any embryos transfers since Dec 08??

Hi Sarahlou, I had to wait till AF arrived and then on Day 2 started taking Progynova, the nurse rung me today and said they will send over a schedule next week, so I really have no idea what I'm doing at the moment, oh well I guess they must know!
And no, I had early miscarriage in Feb from my first IVF cycle so had to wait for two full cycles before I was allowed to try a TER, the waiting seems to have been soooooo long.
And I know what you mean about the 2WW, its a tough time, hang in there, I have my fingers crossed for you it is third time lucky!!!

Oh yeap! you are doing a manufactured cycle.... Im on progynova at the mo too.... so you will def be having TER in the next week or two... and you will also be starting some pessaries soon too... not very nice but they are a must...
Well the lab rung me this morning and our day 1 embyo isnt moving on so they are thawing a day 3 8cell for us so hopfully it survives and we can still have emby transfer today...
Will keep in touch!
