Thanks Vanessa. I do like the thought of the 8 week scan to see if there is a heartbeat but guess I'll wait till end of May (it seems such a long way away!)

the 8 weeks scan is whats generally known as a dating scan. Its mainly for ladies who are unsure of their dates of their LMP or have PCOS - thats the main reason why im having one cause of the PCOS and past history of a MC. I dont have to have one if i dont want to as i didnt last time i only had the 12 week & 18-20 week but as my HCG levels havnt been done this time then i want to double check that all is ok as the end of may seems forver away for the 12 weeker lol

Hi guys. Thanks heaps for the support. Feeling a little better today (i.e. not crying at the drop of a hat). These forums have been really helpful, you realise there are other people out there who have gone through similar things. On the positive side, at least I know that I am fortunate enough to be able to get pregnant and DH "bits" are in working order! I will continue to lurk around and keep my eye on you guys. As the saying goes - I'll be back!

Glad your feeling a bit better dont worry about the crying I still have a little one on the anniversary of our little one being lost. (and it will be 4 years this year).Regardless of how far along you are it was still part of your life - just for a too briefer time unfortunitly. Hope things settle down soon.

Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss. I've had several miscarriages myself, and it's not easy. Hang in there! I hope you begin to feel better soon, and that you're back into the pregnancy threads as soon as!
Good luck.

Hi All,
I have a confession to make I never thought it would be this much fun chatting to others on forums. It is amazing at the love and support everyone shows We have all had unique and sometimes heartwrenching journeys to get here, and I dont know about you guys but at only 5 weeks still don't believe it's actually true!!! Guess I will in the next few weeks when the symptoms kick in! Haha! BTW called the midwife advisory centre today and they were really helpful, I'll be looking forward to getting ther info tomorrow.

Noodle - its a different kind of surreal when you actually hold bubba in your arms for the first time - its awesome just undescribable. It didnt really sink in for me until I felt him coming out with the last push it was like Oh my gosh hes here!!!

*lurking* you are totally not a freak!! lol I did the exact same thing - took a test at home a week after I had several blood tests done through the Dr's... It was just nice to have that positive there reminding me that yes this really was for real, cause I was/am still finding it a bit surreal at times.
Well, maybe we are freaks, but at least you know you're not the only one hehe.

I have sore boobs too and I am eating constantly...at this rate I will soon resemble a nice size cow!!

Ok Just got my result its 37650 it was 28134 two days ago....so it didnt dbl...I was freaking out. Then I found this site, that is giving me the numbers in thousands and not in the same format Motherof6 was giving it.....It doesnt look like it should dbl but increase by 10K...which it almost did.

If I go by the list I am around 6 weeks 6 days today.

Should I be worried??

lurking...

ladies when I was getting my bloods done in the first trimester I found an awesome chart to plot my levels on the website is www.dml.co.nz/downloads/1273_handbook.pdf and scroll to page 261

its put out by the diagnostic centre and gives the median and upper and lower quartile for what you should be per week per day

i found it reasurring plotting it on here

from memory it takes longer to double the higher it gets

Hey Kye, Thanks for this. Had a look ...what is the 50th and 95th means??

If I take my numbers and put them thru to 50th, Then the numbers are right as I am 6 weeks 5 days today, but 95th I am only 5 weeks...which I think is Incorrect.

Can you clarify the 50th and 95th think please. Thanks

50th means the average for that time...95th percentile means the top levels for that time and same for the 5th percentile which means the lowest range for that time, apparently its not about the actual numbers but if you plot your numbers on the graph they should raise to a similar fasion like the lines on the graph as everyones numbers are different so its sounds like things are bang on for you :) I found it really handy to look at around where i should be (which for me was just above the 50th percentile line) before i got my results so that when i got them I didnt freak out :)

all the best...if you have any worries or if I have confused you I would ring up the nurse that you get the results from
