I always tell them a week after we find out! Gives us a week to have a "secret" and then we get to share. Its usually pretty obvious when I turn down a wine though so wouldn't even attempt to hide it.
I also love that then you have support if anything goes wrong and you need it. When we lost the twin a 7 weeks, Mum was round within 10 mins to help calm the situation and be there for us!

haha we told our parents about 1 hour after finding out - we were super excited there was no way we were keeping it a secret! And it was Christmas Eve/Mum's birthday so was a great present

I found out I was pregnant when I was 4 weeks, and I told my mother around 6 weeks I think. I wanted to wait until 12 weeks before telling a soul but I just couldn't keep it in that long.
My parents were so excited, being their first grandchild, that I'm pleased I told them. Also it means that if something does go wrong or god forbid one miscarries then you have people who know for support.

Um , 3 minutes after I did the first test , it was 2pm and I couldn't tell if my eyes were decieving me or not , so I rang my mum and said "can you come and look at the test ?" she came over and at first pointed to the control line ...
With Caitlyn I think I was 6 weeks, I told my mum , she didn't believe me , we ended up having an argument over whether I was or not, til i showed her the confirmation from Family Planning , then she was like "oh wow, your'e pregnant "

As soon as it was verified by the doctor we rang my parents... I could never have waited any longer to tell Mum, she was SO excited.
I am incredibly close to Mum and Dad, so it would have seemed weird to me to keep it a secret from them even for a week. They were hoping it was going to happen soon.
I guess it's easier also being in my 30's and married. If I was 17 and on my own I probably would have needed a few weeks to digest it myself and work out how to tell them!

First pregnancy we told parents right away. I'm glad we did 'cos it meant we had support during the miscarriage.
Second time around we were really apprehensive and didn't want to get too over excited.
I'd told all of OB, but family was told about 30 seconds after exiting the scan room at 11w5d

PMSL .... that sounds like something I would say. I remember talking about my brother to someone and very stupidly saying "he's my sister ....no, she's my brother ...I mean HE's my BROTHER" I blamed it on *nappy brain* (I already feel sorry for anyone who gets stuck with me in a rest home one day lol).
But back to the topic ...we told our parents at around 5 weeks.

We told MIL and FIL once my blood tests had come back ok at 4w2d, as if this one went belly-up as well we needed the support. I told my parents during a screaming match about our wedding and the fact we weren't inviting children....not quite what I was after, as I was going to wait for the scan when we had seen the heartbeat....but I was upset and emotional and it just came out (I was 6w pg then....it was the next week we found out that there were two). We told MIL early as we see them a lot more frequently and she is extremely supportive, and helped us a lot with the last two m/c.

We told DPs mum and some other family on Christmas Day - I was almost 6 weeks then, it seemed the perfect time to say something. We bought her a knitting pattern and waited for her to unwrap it
We told my parents at around 10 weeks, after a scan. They are on the other side of the world and if anything had gone wrong in the early stages they would have found it impossibly hard and my mum isn't well enough to travel. So I held off as a means of potentially protecting them.

I've told my mum and DP has told his parents, but I am waiting till 12 weeks to tell my father, I am not close to him so he can wait. My mum is excited and happy as I am close to her but DPs parents are umm, a little bit 'not speaking to him' at the moment, but they will come around.

Mother's day is coming up in about a month so anyone that can hold on, that would be a great surprise on Mother's day! Originally that's what I thought we'd do, but we ended up telling our parents last week

We told my parents about 10 minutes after I did the test - was just too excited. My husband's parents about a week later. I've also told a couple of people at work who I socialise with so I have people on side for 'fake drinking' over the next few weeks until we get to 12 weeks through.
I am hanging out to tell everyone at work.

I also told parents pretty quickly,
We told MIL first which her responce was, Oh i though you were gonna tell me you were pregnant weeks ago we had only done the test that day, so we were a bit confused lol.
My dad was shocked when i told him, i was only 21. But as soon as i got home he rang me and said, oh ive seen some nice cots etc on trade me lol, he ended up buying me a nice new one from baby factory So he got over the shock very fast

One question when is mother's day??? keep seeing everything advertising gifts etc but haven't actually worked out when it is yet. Thats a great idea I'll definately try not to tell mum before then.
