HI there,

This is probably a dumb question but I am currently 38 weeks pregnant and have been doing a lot of aqua jogging and swimming - my question is what should I do after baby is born - I hear one bleeds for up to 6 weeks! I love the swimming does anyone know any way I can still do it?

They recommend that you do not do it while you are still bleeding, and up to 6 weeks post partum. So if you only bleed for 4 weeks then you still cant go for another 2. Have a chat to your midwife but its all about stopping infections, you should also not have bath's. Plus the first 6 weeks can be VERY tiring so you may not feel like it anyway!

Yeah I would discuss with your mw before swimming again. Walking with bub is always a good way of getting exercise in in those first few weeks and then slowly building up from there as you feel up to it.

Also get your mw to check your abs post partum as they can seperate and you need to take care with what exercises you do until they come back together.

All the best! We must be due aboput the same time

I also agree with the Nothing reply, at least 6 weeks I believe is rule for bath so I'm sure it is for pool, pools have added chemicals, most likely it would be better to avoid it as you are still healing internally.
