I had an emergency c section. Waters broke naturally but not much happened so was put on the drip the next morning, all good to 5cm then he turned the wrong way and flicked his head back and got stuck ... so they had to give me an epidural and we "tried" for many hours but nothing was happening with him in that position, so 30 hours after my waters had broken, with bub starting to get a little distressed, I had an emergency c section.

This time I'm not sure if I will have the option to try to VBAC or not .... but I may possibly opt for an elective either way, as I don't want to go through that again. Even though I cried all the way to theatre as I really didn't want a c section (and felt dissappointed that I couldn't do it naturally), now that I've had one and it wasn't so bad I'm not sure if I want to do it the other way!!

Yup, having done it once and it wasn't the nightmare I was expecting I was happy either way, but was pushing more for VBAC. Afterwards with more stitches than I had with my CS I wondered why I had pushed so hard for my VBAC....but i'm still glad Idid.

I had a planned C-sect due to Rowan being breech and IUGR and it was a lovely birth experience.

I am still undecided about whether to do a VBAC or elective-C next time. I probably won't have any medical reason for a C but given that it was such a positive experience for me (laughing with the OB and DH, bonding with Rowan straight away, relatively easy recovery) I worry that should I persue a VBAC then when the going gets tough I may just lose my determination and end up having to have an emergency-C which of course would take a lot more to recover from.

Also if the next baby is IUGR I'd far rather have an elective C than be induced which increases the chance of rupture.

I'm totally with you Bobbie I really enjoyed my experience and had no problems with bonding. I was terrified with twins that I would push one out and then they would have to do an emergency c-section for the second baby so I knew from the start I wanted a c-section and no-one was going to tell me any different. All said and done it was all so easy and positive.

I had a emergency c-section as my pleivs is to small for babys to get out so if i ever have another i will be having a elective and i will push past anyone who tells me diff

I'm so envious of you all who had great birth experiences..i didn't really have a birth plan or many expectations but the whole experience (well the first bit till he got distressed was ok) was hard and he wasn't breathing and then i had an awful recovery.. so i guess if we are ever lucky enough to be preg again I would go elective as I don't want to risk that again.

Isobel was feet first so after 24 hrs contractions we had an emergency c section.   
Got a nasty infection spent 2 weeks in hospital plus another month of district nurse visits. Not fun! If we are lucky enough to get pregnant again in the future will be hoping for a vbac surgeon said it was possible.
However will do whatever to ensure happy healty baby!
