I am sorry to have totally killed this thread. But thank you all for your kind words. We are still waiting - always the hard part. Every update brings bad news, so I don't think the end result will be a happy one either way.
Not a great start to the year. I am just glad we got to share Christmas with him, it was a really special time and one that we will cherish. And as bad as it sounds, I don't think life would be any good for him if he did wake up - spinal injuries and brain injuries are two of the biggies and for such an independent old guy it would not be a pleasant life to have left. But we will deal with whatever happens from here. Looks like we'll be heading down there soon so I might not be around for a wee while. Thanks again everyone, you are all lovely.
