Oh BS - that's too funny! *filthy laugh*

I was never offered ANY help at all after my CS or my private lap! Only had a visit from the physio lady just as I was about to walk out the door (on day 4 after CS).

NeoshasMummy - Your MW needs to be struck off!
Fast recovery from a CS?!?! Like heck! I think her attitude was disgusting and she should not be allowed to look after anyone else!

Unfortunately there are far too many people that still think that haveing a CS is the easy way out. If only!

I had a c-section with my twins and I don't recall anyone asking if I had help at home, but I know we talked about how DH was having a month off work so maybe they decided that was all the help I needed.

wow just discovered this thread and probably way too late to offer any help. But I had heard you got offered home help after a c section from a friend And so when I was booked into an elective i asked my midwife. Which she said was true, so after I had Rhyley I transferred down to our local maternity home and stayed there 4 days (my midwife was a huge beleiver in people staying longer when theey have had a ceasar or first time mum - she was great) She also brought the forms for home help and got them filled out with me and sorted. I had a person come round twice a week for 1 and half hours per day to do the vacumming, bathroom, washing out and beds. It was great and well worth it, you get it for 6 weeks - although I only got for 4 weeks as it came to christmas and no home help people to work, but dh was off then so no worries.

All i say is make sure you ask and ask and ask for it as you are entitled to it - as long as you have no one who can be home for you and espec if you have other kids as that was a big thing that got me it - even if the kids were older they still make a mess.

Mmm I think the word elective needs to be explained to some people, I have placenta previa and everyone keeps telling me how lucky I am that I am having a c-section.
I don't consider myself lucky at all, woudl much rather have no complications and do things "naturally".

I'm looking around to try to find some home help at the moment as I am scheduled for the 30th May, any ideas of where to look for the Brooklyn area in Welly?

Yes I had an elective because of him being breach and my sister in law said to me "at least you won't have to go through the pain of labour" no cos recovering from a major surgery whilst looking after newborn will be a breeze!!!!!! Idiots.

Sofia speak to your mw she should be able to give you the right info about any home help that you are entitled. I also hate the word elective too as it makes it sound like you are choosing it rather than it being for a medical reason.

Wow, I never even considered that I might have been entitled to extra help after c-sections. I've had 2 c-sections and my kids were 17 months apart. I do remember my midwife asking if there would be anybody home and yes my husband was for 2 weeks so I guess that was her disqualifying me from additional help??? Would have been nice though, even with the relatively easy recoverys I had

I too went through the labour before getting the big slice.. and it's definitely not nice especially when you've finished and in recovery (before I had even met my little girl properly) and you get taken down to have yet another ultrasound because they think they've stuffed your kidneys
