    Posted: 10 January 2011 at 9:03pm
I've just recieved an appointment card to see the OB at the hospital. I expected this, but not this early. Last time I was about 32 weeks. This time I will be 24 weeks. I know I will be having a elective c/s again but it just seems to early to be planning that. I am confused!

It's weird they don't seem to have any set time to see women, they must do it on how busy they happen to be. I had complications with my first at 35 weeks which lead to c/s but they didn't see me until 36 weeks with my second, you think they would have wanted to see me earlier, even my mw thought it was odd, plus by 36 weeks I already had a very good idea of what i was doing and wasn't much interested in their input!

Guess if you already know what you are doing it will be short appointment...lol I doubt they will book you in that far out, so maybe you will end up seeing them again, or getting booked in later. Does seem odd to do it so early.

That does seem really early but if you've already had two c/s then it will be a pretty straight-forward apmt I imagine!

wow, that is early... esp since anything could happen between now and when date is set!

With Jae I was about 35-36 weeks, and with this one I will be 36 weeks at the ob appt.. cutting it a bit fine if you ask me since hospital midwife swears they schedule them for 38 weeks!

Perhaps they just received a referral earlier on from your midwife?

They book based on your referral... my mw did my referral at 35 weeks and I was seen a week later. They wont be scheduling a date that far in advance I wouldnt think... Im sure they do that closer to the time due to surgery rosters etc....

36 weeks is the "norm" with sections done at 39 weeks but each hospital does things a little different...

My midwife sent the referral after my last appointment with her the week before Christmas. But last time I had the same midwife and she sent the referral around the same time. Weird.

I suppose it may be because I had high blood pressure, high liver enzymes and for a while suspected collistasis last time. Even so those didn't show up until 35 weeks.

In some ways I hope they do schedule my surgery. It will give me heaps of time to organise things. And I really don't know when I want to/should finish work.

Gosh I'd be stoked if I'd been seen that early and even better to be booked in by then too!
I'm not being seen until Im 36 weeks. This is my second caesarean after an emergency caesarean the first time.
I'd say that with your other conditions the hospital will want to keep a close eye on you and may get you up there for other appointments/scans throughout your pregnancy too.
Good luck and let us know how it went please!
