Hi guys,
I'm aiming for an elective caesarian this time around after a horrible birth ending in an emergency caesarian with my first child 3 years ago.

My midwife is supportive and says she will refer me to Waikato hospital at 31 weeks to meet the obstetric team and discuss having an elective caesarian.

Im just wondering what actually happens at this appointment? Do they question you on your reasons? Are they negative about booking elective caesarians? Is there a chance they may refuse me?

Also my DS was born in Australia so all my obstetric hospital notes are over there and aren't available to the hospital or Drs here, do you think this will be an issue?

I'd appreciate any info from your experiences. Thanks.

When I had my vbac consult at the hospital they tried to talk me out of it. I'm sure it depends on who you get but really the hospital appointment should just be telling you what to expect on the day, picking the day and addressing any concerns.

Your notes can be accessed by your Dr & hospital if they require them.

They will just want to talk through the procedure & options & they will recommend a natural birth as that is best unless of course there is a medical need to do one.

my first was an emergence c/sect, my second was a vbac & my 3rd was an emergency c/sect. After having all 3 difficult & traumatic births I would still pick a vb.

This birth may be totally different so have an open mind to the suggestions from the medical team.

HI Carriemum,a friend recently had the same app at Waikato, she was going to have a vbac but now thinking of an elective. From what she said no I don't think there is any cance they will question you or try to talk you out of it.
