Hi there Minx, was just thinking that no-one has posted on here for so long, I'm sure someone must have had a baby by now, lol.
You really have a good comparison between the young mum and the more mature, experienced, able to laugh at more situations, wonderfully patient Mum, lol. Obviously 2nd time round is good for you!

Thats one thing I would really love to do, but nothing like that around these parts. Bump really sticking out now, seems bigger than last time, but of course everything is pre-stretched .
Have had my mojo back in the last weeks, energywise, but have put that down to some new vitamins I have been taking and spiralina tablets too, which help with energy. Can't remember if I told you but we are having a little girl again so we have finally decided on a name that we both love. It sure helps to know as I don't need to buy any extras, but of course you just can't help yourself can you, its all so cute.

hi ladies - welcome Minx
am still in one piece - just - baby is growing and growing (having another scan before OB appt on Monday, will be 38w3d) - baby is doing lovely which is taking a large toll on my body, she is stripping me of everything she can
so at this stage my 'wee' girl will be here sooner rather than later - so not ready, trying to get things done however I keep falling asleep all the time, really think I need to make a concerted effort tomorrow and over the weekend in case the OB wants her earlier than I expect :)

Wow, I was talking to my brother (nurse) about how many scans the ladies in my Dec 2011 group are having, it seems to be a big thing here (NZ) having all these extra scans, most seem to be to check the size. I only ever had 2 with DD and have only had 2 with this littley, and I assume I won't need anymore. He did mention that ladies are having babies later hence maybe the more scans and I had to laugh and say that I'm pretty sure I'm the old bag in the group, lol.
Choco, don't stress too much just make sure your bag is packed and the rest will fall into place, all she will really need when she gets home is her mum and if she's lucky, (.)(.)

It's great to see some action in this group after such a quiet period. I too am having a girl and we will be giving birth at North Shore Hospital. After all the nervousness of waiting for test results and then waiting for anatomy scans it all seems like not much is happening. I am feeling some movements which is nice. Hope everyone is staying well.

yes am intending to deliver at North Shore
and the only thing I really must finish before baby arrives is my essay for uni - everything else can happen when it happens
millemama - and am sure I am the oldest first time mum around here at the moment - and yes have had lots of scans however it's all about the growth as she is getting lots bigger and i'm not gaining weight - although I did have extra on board before pregnancy - that said this is not my ideal weightloss regime!

Thats a hard one Choco, does sound like she's taking all your nourishment, its kinda like BF, very hard not to just eat and eat with BF as you get incredibly hungry, but its a matter of eating the right thing thats the key, I managed to maintain minimal weight gain whilst PG with DD, don't know how?, but when she was born and from then on started to put on a bit of weight that hadn't been able to shift until just b4 this little one was conceived. I find it hard to choose the good foods all the time, unless they are there, quick and available with an instant energy hit. Comfort food seems to always hit the spot! Make sure you have some good healthy snacks on hand for when she is born and vitamins too. Instant gratification is what its all about when BF, for them and us. lol

Happygal, that sounds a ridiculous reason to not go over. Sorry can't remember, how old are you? There is so much research out there that talks about unnecessary interference. Have read a good article re how wrong the due date can be, with a lot of women interviewed who knew exact date of conception but were told something different regardless, so in their workings out they were not over at all. Food for thought anyway.

Millemama - they told me right from the start that they won't want to let me go overdue - it's all about older first time mums and possible failure of the placenta - and no they won't induce, as they don't think baby will now fit into pelvis so without the pressure of baby engaging all it would do would possibly put me into labour with no dilation and progression and a need for a c-section anyways - feeling good about if i need a c-section then i need one - just want my wee girl to get here as safely as possible for both of us - and really do want to avoid a blood transfusion for me if at all possible as well

My first was an Em CS, and it was actually a wonderful experience with quick recovery, skin to skin, no probs BF and all that. I'm having an elective this time round so should be interesting to compare. I was 1mth off 40 first time and went 5 days over with no-one mentioning any prob with that, thats why I was surprised. I did birth in Oz so wonder if thats the diff.
I just feel that sometimes the medical profession push the older mum 'boat' out a bit far, and it really has more to do with general health etc than your physical age. I have had friends who have been told horrible things by Drs etc re her age, which is just not correct, whereas others are seemingly fine with it. My GP's wife just had their last one at 46, I was quite surprised. Sorry don't mean to rant or get on the bandwagon, just don't like being told certain things like that when I know its just not always the case. We had a wonderful OB in Oz and we came across a bloody horrible one that happened to be on call, 2 totally different approaches and opinions. Needless to say I kept my legs crossed until my Doc came on. lol

My Gp was always positive when I discussed the posibility of having another baby. I am 37 now. He was away one time and his locum (who I had met and thought was nice) advised me if you want one don't leave it any longer. I have to say I am finding it hard this time around compared to my older boys and I am not as old as some women having babies. I don't have the energy and everything seems so much harder. Also I am having problems with concentration etc at work. I guess it is what they call baby brain. Never had that before.

I must admit I find this pg harder than the first, but with only 3yrs difference in yrs I'm pretty sure its more to do with circumstances and having a toddler to run around after.
Guys, I have found a thread which was interesting re "induction at 38wks or not for older mum". It sites all sorts of experiences from different women, for a rounded view.

Baby update: well Miss Bliss is still growing away - at yesterday's scan they estimate she is 7lb13oz so guess she is still enjoying all the food I am serving to her :) being the budding diva that she is Miss Bliss has decided that it's no natural birth for her, she would like an audience of adoring fans, so she has decided not descend down the birth canal she would rather someone came and picked her up - so she is booked to depart her room via the sunroof on Tuesday 4th (unless she changes her mind in the meantime) ... so at least that gives me a week to finish getting organised for slavedom :)
did discuss induction with the OB however due to baby's reluctance to venture into the pelvis he believes that i would fail to progress and need a c-section anyways
so a week to go till I have my wee girl in my arms - exciting stuff!
