That's baby number two 
Just wondering as I know 'officially' you should wait 18 months (regardless of birth type) but I would like to get started on number two earlier than that. So if I start too early will the scarring on my uterus lead to an increased chance of miscarriage or eptopic pregnancy? Or does it make no difference really once the initial healing period is over - does anyone know? -------------

well i asked the OB lady at my 6 week checkup at hospital if a year was fine and she said yes.. i specifically said 'so i should wait longer than a year or would a year be ok to get pregnant again and she said 'that would be fine'
cause she said i could stil get c section pain until a year and thats why i asked her if it was ok to get pregnant 1 year after my c section. *scary* Dh wants to start trying next jan...scary for me:(!! ------------- Mum to two amazing boys! |

Doc said I was fine to start trying after 7 months. I think they like you to wait 6 months if everything was ok, longer if you have had problems healing. -------------

Oh and i had just had a miscarriage and asked whether it could be related to the c/s and was told that it was extremely unlikely. -------------

My m/w told me not to get pregnant again within a year as my wouldn't cope so well after having a traumatic birth the first time round. I am waiting till Lauren turns two to start trying again. ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

Wigglesfan was pregnant again about 10 months (I think) after her c-section you could pm her to find out what the preg was like but I can tell you that baby has been born and is gorgeous. -------------

My friend had her twins on 03 Nov 06 by c-sect (breech presentation) and her son on 03 Nov 07 by VBAC (awful, awful VBAC that I constantly go on about, I am still traumatised by it but that's another story!)
She didn't have any complications with her subsequent pregnancy as a result of her earlier c-sect even tho she was preg with about 4 mths of giving birth. -------------  Maya Grace (28/02/03)

I think you should probably check with your GP. We weren't told to wait at all. It never came up in conversation. Briona was born (by VB) 19mos after Hannah (by c/s). ------------- |

kawww its meant to say body! Sorry, what a dork! She just advised because my body went through a lot of stress during my labour and also I am meant to have counselling due to the vontouse (which failed twice and it is a horrible memory). M/w said I will probably have flashbacks aswell and they could affect how my next labour will go.

hmmm nobody ever told me I had to wait after my c/section and a girl I worked with was preg again when her bub was just 3 months following a c/s. I asked a doc when Neosha was 7 months about starting to try again (a emergency doc that I had to see for some reason) he said there is no reason why not. MY doc told me I shouldnt have kids close together but it was nothing to do with the c/s. I think it was the result of an American study IIRC but to be honest it's been a while since I read it hence the '' around the word officially
It's something to do with the time it takes the body to recover. Something about in the distant past women naturally spaced 2 years between babies due to the amount of time they breastfed. -------------

I had my boys 19 months apart (conceived when #1 was 10 months old), both emergency c-sections & #3 will be due about the same time as #2 will be two years old. My doctors never said anything about when I could or couldn't start trying which is probably a good thing since I haven't had any luck with contraception even though I am a long term breastfeeder (#1 weaned at 33 months after tandem feeding for over a year & #2 still being fed now). Personally I think if you are fit & healthy & no unusual problems then there is no reason why you can't try & at the end of the day if your body isn't healed & ready then you probably won't get pregnant. ------------- Mum to Alex (11), Blaire (10) & Erika (8) and Damien (6) Successful HWB VBA2Cs! Well I had five years in between #1 & #2 so that isn't much help. But more recently I had 18 months between #2 & #3 (I got pregnant when #2 was nine months) and when the surgeon opened me up again he said that my uterus is looking really healthy so no problems there. It was a much better pregnancy too - with heaps less pain. I have a friend who had 14 months between c-sections with no issues. |

I got pregnant with # 2 when Ollie turned 1 last October (he was breech so had c-section). There will be a 21 month age gap. So far I haven't had any pain with c-section scar yet but will see what happens. ------------- Sebastien 2 years old Olivier 3 3/4 years old |

It's quite a nice age gap really & my boys are really close. I used to breastfeed them together & they would hold hands, talk about adorable! Here is an old picture of them together:

Hey there Neeks,
I went to see specialist yesterday to discuss birth options for this baby and we are going to wait till 36 weeks and then have a scan to check baby's position and weight etc and if all is fine then I will try for normal birth but obviously if nothing progresses then will need to have another c-section. ------------- Sebastien 2 years old Olivier 3 3/4 years old |

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!! I don't get a choice next time.. I HAVE to have one and it states that clearly on my files due to having problems with my pelvis size when Keziah was born.. We tried everything to get her out.. {Pushing, Ventouse, Forceps and then finally 48 hours since first contraction...an Emergency CS) -------------
