Topic: big bed bedding...where? Posted: 15 August 2009 at 8:46pm |
I am struggling to find bedding for a king single. I ideally want some flanalette sheets but cant find them anywhere. WE have just bought the bed from furniture court and they were out of all king single sheets, as were smiths city. The warehouse has squat! We dont have many other options down here.
Does anyone know of any online places? Even ezibuy is out of stock till 2010. I didnt think it would be this hard to set up Tom's bed by Friday!

My MIL just bought some for us from Briscoes but we don't have them yet so not sure if they are flanelette or not. I have a feeling they're just cotton.

I think Kmart does king single. I usually use a king single fitted but the flat sheet, duvet and blankets are all double/queen as they are easier to get and tuck in alot better. I did buy a KS valance from Spotlight but not sure if they do the sheets
ETA: I might have seen KS at Farmers too

Its alright....panic over. I found some flanellette sheets in our cupboard. THey are doubles but will do in the meantime. I am also going to buy the merino blanket from sleepstore. I figure it is no different to the amount I have spent on sleep sacks and will last him years.
As for all your suggestions we have no kmart, no briscoes, no farmers NOTHING!!! It sucks the big one!
But, another Q. Do you use a pillow?

I was gonna suggest warehouse for sheets but see you have already tried there. Is that H & Js place still going in Queenstown, they might have something.
I have left Spencer in his sleeping bag and he still doesn't have a pillow, seems happy without one and he still sleeps in all manner of odd positions (probably why he has fallen out a couple of times..lol)

Daniel has 2 pillows lol. He has one in the normal place and one that goes next to it so both together look like an L. He loves it, we put it like that for his first night to stop him rolling out of bed but now he just likes it that way cause its cozy

Double is basically the same size as KS - I went trawling through shops with my sis trying to find KS and once we looked at the measurements, there is actually very little difference
I recommend getting a waterproof mattress protector aswell if you haven't thought of that
Yip, Ashleigh has had a pillow since moving out of her cot.

We use double sheets on DD's king single bed. They tend to tuck in better so we don't have to pick up the bedding off the floor too often.

Thanks for the heads up on the double bedding. That changes things dramatically!!! Yay!!
Yes, i need to get a mattress protector. In the first instance I can use his cot one and put it across the bed. In fact it might even go lengthways at the top easily too. But I want a full bed one to keep the mattress nice.

My recommendation would be to get the mattress protector asap!! I hadn't quite gotten round to getting one & 2 days into Liam sleeping in his single bed he got a tummy bug . Enough said!!
Oh and we have a pillow on his bed but he always throws it on the floor

I got a mattress protector from warehouse for a single bed, I'm pretty sure they had doubles as well.

Hey. Just thought I'd add my two cents, we have been using this for about 9 months now and it can fit up to a king single.
Snug Sheet
Phoenix has just moved to his king single bed this afternoon (having his first big boy nap as we speak). It's flannel, no need for bed rails (until they figure out the zip - which he hasn't yet) and he sleeps so well in it.
I just use a double duvet on his bed, fits better. But I too probally should look into king single / double sheets etc shortly.

Do you have bed, bath and beyond? they have king single.
I was planning on ordering some from Ezibuy - didn't realise they didn't have stock -grr.
I'm finding it hard to find KS stuff too - especially as I want 100% cotton.
Farmers and warehouse don't do KS.
The new baby can have a single bed!

Bed bath and beyond have these great "jersey" fabric sheets - like t-shirt material. jake has a thinner mattress but Taine/s is super thick. the t-shirt sheets can go on both. great!
