I loathe TTC no matter when it is, but having a miscarriage has made it worse.

I'm only on day 30 of my cycle and have POAS already. I'm paranoid about not finding out I'm pregnant early enough to go beg the doctor for progesterone and low dose aspirin.

I'd love to wake up 9 months pregnant and skip all the anxiety that comes with TTC and pregnancy.

How do you keep yourself sane?

AzzaNZ if you feel you need baby aspirin then you can get it from the chemist and supermarkets have it too. I have had three recurrent miscarriages and like you it slacked me off that I had to have three before my specialist would take it seriously and investigate the reasons.

But although they found no concrete reasons for the m/c's he has told me to take baby aspirin and progesterone once I am pregnant again, which isn't proving that easy this time.

I can't see any reason why you couldn't take baby aspirin, Im on the 75 dose and Im sure you could take this yourself, although getting the progesterone might be a bit more difficult, but definately insist that your gp lets you do the progesterone blood work at 7dpo.

Is that what some doctors call the 21 day test?

The last time I did that I got a call from my doctor saying that my progesterone levels were insufficient to support a pregnancy.

Sadly it was in another country and I dont have any medical records.

The 3 miscarriages thing is shocking.

Next time I plan to cause whatever scene I need to in order to get the progesterone tests and support if needed.

Do you know if you can go to a labtests/medlab and ask for a progesterone test without a referral?

Azza I can't help but just wanted to give you big
I understand exactly how you are feeling I am scared sh**less of being preg again, in fact I caught myself the other day thinking "next time I have a MC I might do that". Had to slap myself out of that train of thought promptly!

P.S. good thread I will watch with interest.

I do the same thing. I think "maybe next time a D&C will be easier"... horrible thoughts!

Azza, you cant get progesterone pessarys with out a script. How good is your GP? Could you voice your concerns to them? They might be willing to do BTs to check your progesterone and HCG once a cycle at 12DPO (to check if your PG and if your progesterone is ok) or something? The CD21 test is the one you do at 7DPO (but not sure if HCG would show up that early? (my HCG at 16 DPO (and 6 days past implantation) was only 80, so much earlier than that and it wouldnt have shown up?))
Hmm I hope all that makes sense? I think having a good GP is definately the first step...

Hey Azza - Firstly I am so sorry that you have experienced a m/c. With the blood tests for progesterone, yes 7dpo is the day 21 bloods and your gp should be able to give you the forms for these. If you feel your gp is not taking you seriously then I would definately change and try and find a supportive gp.

Also if you can get your medical records from SA then that might help, not sure but it can't hurt. You could self refer to a fertility specialist but unfortunately as far as Im aware they still won't investigate until you have had 3 m/c's, I was fortunate I guess (or not) to already be under the specialist due my age and length of time ttc'in. Once I get pregnant again Fertility Associates will monitor me quiet closely and do weekly bloods to monitor my progesterone, and I think I will also have quiet regular scans to try and keep an eye on things.

Azza I really really hope that this was a once off for you and that your next pregnancy will be a sticky one.

Also I guess ring Medlab and ask whether you can get tests done for yourself. No doubt if you can they would cost you, but not sure how much.

Goodluck with your ttc journey

Hugs Azza, it certainly can be a stressful journey for a lot of us. I would probably get your doctor to do as many tests as they possibly can. I would definately suss out the progesterone thing as I know it's something that can be easily fixed. I referred myself to a fertility specialist when I had my second miscarriage as I wanted to make sure there wasn't somthing wrong. The doctors here are bl...dy hopeless where I live so I didn't want to risk another pregancy going down the tubes if there was something within my control to fix it.
That's the thing though, the whole ttc thing is mostly out of our control. We can BD on days we think we are near ovulation but never guarantees a baby.
I'm assuming this is your first m/c, plenty of woman go on to have healthy pregnancies, so hoping this is the case for you and you get a sticky baby.
Best wishes for a quick BFP and a sticky one. As far as staying sane hmmmm not sure on that one.

Hmmm... I'm still in the business of trying to convince DP that TTC is a good idea.

I suppose a good/bad thing to know is that his sperm is really good (he's had it tested) so it's all down to me.

On the postive side I got pregnant on the pill and got a reasonable way into the pregnancy so implantation and conceiving aren't likely to be issues.

On the negative we have no idea what caused the miscarriage and won't find out till it happens another two times.

Terrifying.

PS Azza your little girl is the so gorgy.

Hugs Azza - a MC changes everything, TTC and pregnancy are never quite the same again.
Get yourself a good supportive GP - these tests are not exactly invasive or complicated. Surely if you make enough of a fuss they would give them to you just to keep you quiet...
I am one of the lucky ones who went on to have a healthy little bub, and I do hope that you will get your BFP soon.
Just remember, there are always folk on this forum you can rant to about how you are feeling, as you will have days ahead where you think you are just going barmy.

Thank you for all the support

I'm driving myself nuts, feeling really ill and getting hopeful about it despite the negative HPT's every morning

Hi Azza just wanted to say I am in a similar boat to you....my wee girl looks around the same age as your lovely Isabella, and we have had one m/c (in Aug 09). I have had 5 cycles since, and all were only 23 days (28 days is normal for me), so I don't think I have a long enough luteal phase to produce enough progesterone to support preg as I usually ov day 14/15 and I am learning you need at least 10 days between ov and af.
I know I have dodgy progesterone as I have endometriosis which is a "low-progesterone" condition, so my awesome gp (a man!) agreed to test my levels 7dpo. I went into his office ready to campaign that yes, m/c could be due to any number of factors, but seeing as we already know I have endo, could we do a 'day 21' blood test to see if that might be a problem....anyway, he agreed immediately and I didn't end up having to do the hard sell on him....I hope you have or find a nice gp who will do something similar for you, based on you verbally telling them you have had low prog results in the past.
Like you I am thinking that if I do get a bfp then I want to go in and demand progesterone pessaries too! A friend of mine who is on her umpteenth cycle of ivf is on them until week 16, not because she has low progesterone levels, but just as extra insurance to promote lots of 'lush lining' for implantation etc. Interesting eh.
My fingers are x'd for you....I am also not enjoying ttc and have to snap myself out of "next time" thoughts too.
Tomorrow I am going to a naturopath to see if I am lacking something or really just to feel like I am doing something as my hormones/periods/emotions still feel totally outta whack...I will keep watching to see what your gp says and if those hpts turn +ve.

I tried to get an appointment with my doctor to speak to her about the progesterone and see if she'd give me a referral for blood tests but she is booked up until mid-next week.

I dont want to see a different doctor - the last time she wasnt available was during my miscarriage and the doctor I saw instead said there was nothing they could do for me before describing a D&C in detail complete with hand gestures

So I went and bought 2 more HPT's while I decide what to do

I'm still tormenting myself. Its like I intellectually *know* that I am not pregnant but my heart wants it so much that everything seems like a symptom. I need either a +HPT or AF to arrive.

Thanks... its feeling a bit like dejavu. Baby is measuring much smaller than it should and they asked if I've had any bleeding or pain.

Just hoping and praying.
