Hello
I sufferd a molar pregnancy last February 2009 and we got the all clear in January 2010 and have been ttc since then. Its a hard thing to go through as I had all the symptoms but no baby just a whole bunch of nasty cells,
I would love to hear from someone else that has been through this

Yup - my first pregnancy. Thought everything was going dandy only to find out there was nothing really there at the 13 week scan. So sad. Then to find out that it was a molar pregnancy about a month after the d&c was an extra blow because of being told to wait until the all clear to try again. We ignored their advice because I was so upset by it all. Fell pregnant quickly but for unrelated reasons there was a problem with that little one and we had to terminate that pregnancy. Even sadder.

But as you can see we now have our little girl and it's hard to imagine life without her so maybe the sadness was worth it in the end.

Good luck! Really hope things work out soon for you. It's a bit of an emotional rollercoaster when you do get pregnant again. Mixture of terror of it going wrong again and excitement at the thought of being preggers.

It is great to hear from someone else that has gone through this.
When you did get pregnant again did you use a specialist for your care or did you use a midwife?
I have been told that i will need regular scans throughout and that it would be best to use a specialist.
Thank you so much for your kind words

Hi Brilee,

I haven't been through a molar pregnancy but I wanted to send you a .

I am sorry for what you went through and can only imagine how hard it's been for you.

I had something happen to me on tuesday which made me think of your post, which is why I wanted to respond.

I went for an appointment at the hospital to go over everything that's happened this year in relation to my m/c and problems since. (It was awful re-living everything!)

The specialist was sitting reading my medical notes on his computer and was looking extremely concerned and not saying anything (It was a really bad reminder of the sonogram where I found out the worst news ever).

After a few minutes he suddenly sighed a huge sigh and said "Oh you didn't have a molar pregnancy". When my bub was sent for testing it was apparantly suspected although I had no knowledge of this. After alot of testing they found that it wasn't the case however.

It was a huge shock and very upsetting, so I wanted to say that although I didn't have one myself I am so sorry that you did and I can imagine how hard the last year or so has been.

Good luck with TTC

Thanks Brilee

I'm doing ok thanks, It sure is a long road to recovery. I have good days and bad days. Sometimes it still feels so raw and so unfair, but over time I think I'm learning to make peace with it.

Next year we'll be TTC again, It seems like a long wait! Dp and I have holidays planned for this Sept and then April next year so will wait til we get back from that one. (Almost a whole year away! I don't know if I'll be able to wait that long though - I want a baby NOW!)

How are you doing ? I hope this month is a lucky one for you - I'm really looking forward to seeing you in a due thread! (I'm a serial "thread stalker" - I love reading lots of the due threads and preparing myself for what's to come when I get my BFP!)

I really hope things go easier for you this time. To have something happen like that is so heart wrenching.

To answer your questions though, I just used a midwife (and there's a whole crappy, but unrelated, story there as well). I tried to get a referral for specialist care when I fell pregnant with Kiara but the GP and the midwife said that I was considered "low risk" despite my age (38), the molar pregnancy and the little one who would not have survived.

Interesting that they feel they need to continue to monitor you. The only follow up the Gynae-Oncologist recommended for me was another blood test 3 months after I had the baby to again make sure there was no sign of those nasty cells. I was also told that once I received the "all clear" (after all those months of blood tests) then that was the end of it with no further potential issues.

If they're going to refer you to a specialist then I reckon don't knock it back but you can still use a midwife as your Lead Maternity Carer if you want to as well as seeing the specialist.

Do you post in the TTC threads? I stalk there a little bit because I get happy for everyone who finally gets their BFP.
