Topic: Low Iron? Posted: 03 April 2007 at 9:29pm |
Ok so no i am not planning to ahve another baby just yet(as much as I want one). However I do have a question I have jsut found out I have really low iron. Hubby was saying to day that even if we were TTC chances are it would not happen cause of my iron level's does anyone know anything about this? Or what impact it could have cause when I do decide to try again I want to be really healthy.

The better your health is, the better chance you have of conceiving. But since you haven't had trouble TTC in the past (I think that's right?) I don't think it would be "enough" to prevent you getting pg again... if that makes sense.
But... if your iron is low, pg or not, you should go on iron supplements for that. That will probably make you feel a whole lot better too because you'll be less exhausted.

Thta didn't happen but 2 weeks after baby was born i hemoridged (sorry unsure how to spell it) but yeah i went to A&E rushed in and was told that i might need transfusion again didn't have it they also thought that a bit of my placenta was still in me... That wasen't it either they were unsure what was wrong but i'm ok now still aneamic and need pills everyday an i'm useless at remembering to have them...

I've been chronically anaemic since I was 15 and I haven't had any problems conceiving.
It was a problem throughout the pregnancies though, I was much, much tireder and had lots of dizzy fainting spells and they threatened me with the injections, which bl00dy hurt and stain your skin. Luckily for me my iron came up!
Definitely keep up the iron supplements as horrid as they are, I feel soo much better when I take them regularly.

What a great idea!
Low iron levels/anaemia doesn't cause fertility probs/inhibit conception, but doctors generally advise you to build up good iron stores before getting pregnant as the baby will take everything it needs from your blood and if there isn't enough left over to sustain you then you can end up feeling pretty icky.
