Hello, My husband and I havej just returned fomr the GP who has finally referred us for fertility help. We will be on the Wellington wait list and are just wondering how long people have had to wait for initial assessment and then treatment.

I am new to this site, am 27 and have been trying to concieve for 12 months with no luck. Husband has been tested and there is nothing wrong with him so I guess I'm the problem

arrghh - I just posted this but it disappeared so I'm typing it out again!

Firstly - welcome to ohBaby sygnet - It's great to have you here.

Secondly - I'm sorry but I don't know waiting times for Wellington, but I want to say that even though your DH has been tested as fine - it doesn't mean that you are the problem!

Remember theres only 12 times a year you can get pregnant (less if you have longer cycles) and out of those 12 times you have a 25%chance of getting pregnant and it sticking (if you know what I mean). So really its quite hard to get pregnant!

Hopefully, you will be like many others and conceive naturally while in the process of fertility treatment or assessment!
I'll be going down your road if I don't get preg by next month - its been almost a year for me too, I got preg straight away after our honeymoon, but had a miscarriage at 12 weeks and have been trying ever since.

hope to see you around ohBaby!

Hi Sygnet.

My doctor referred me to Fertility Associates in Wellington. I waited a while for them to call me, but they didn't so I just called up to make an appointment. I got the appointment the following week.

I am pretty sure there should be no real waiting list for first appointment. But from what I hear, they will make an appointment for you as long as you've been referred by a GP.

I don't think you should wait for them to call you, as I don't think they do that. That's what I found anyway. When I called up they asked who referred me and then just confirmed it.

Hope that makes sence... PM me if you need any information. Good luck with the first appointment!

Laurie
