Topic: First AF after mc Posted: 04 April 2008 at 2:17pm |
Is it normal for the first AF after a m/c to be really bad?
It is worse than the m/c itself, the cramps have been no where near as bad, but far far far more blood, so much so that i have half a ton of knickers and 4 pairs of trousers soaking in the tub from accidents

Its so embarrassing, was out walking the dogs with a friend and had to turn back cos I had an accident . What is worse is I had two heavy days which is far enough and quite normal and then 12 + hours of absolutely nothing and then OMG it starts again and I leak through tampons and a pad in just half an hour.
I am pretty sick of my body right now, do you know where I can trade it in for a new one?

do you think thats ok? I know with the docs said with the MC that soaking a pad in less than an hour was too much bleeding. dont know if it counts for an AF after a MC. Might pay to ring and just check.

Yeah, I think I agree with NZpiper, that sounds like too much bleeding to me, have you talked to your doc?

No, its calmed down now. I think because there was nothing for over 12 hours it had pooled or something and then a whole load came out over a couple of hours. Strange that the bleeding stopped and then started again

was there a clot? I could imagine a clot blocking the cervix until enough pooled behind it to push it all out. YUK!!!

Possibly I had to sort myself out in a public loo that didn't have a working lock (and the cubicle opened straight to the carpark) so I didn't spend much time investigating I wouldn't be surprised if that had been the case though.

Yea I had it almost as bad as the m/c itself except less clots and more cramps. I asked my dr about it b'c it went on for another 10-14 days, and he said it was still within the realm of normal and was the 'kinder way' Gross though ay

Ewww, I had a clot (well actually a lump of membranes) blocking my cervix after I had the gremlins, I had bugger all bleeding then all of a sudden about 5 weeks postpartum I started bleeding like a stuck pig and out popped a huge chunk of gunk
