I want to start giving Rory more options for food. But at the same time i dont want to have to cook separately for him or change my food TOO much for him.

But i have no idea of meals that he can have. I mostly eat salads with meat or with vege patties. And i mainly eat beef - mostly mince.

When i do eat cooked veges i do a bit extra for him but even then its mostly just potato or frozen mixed veges.

So basically im in a rut, i have always eaten the same kinds of foods so im not too good with ideas for dinners and when i do think of something different to make it never sounds baby friendly to me like apricot chicken and basmati rice. I didnt think Rory could have any of it.

Can anyone help me with ideas for dinners that i can also give Rory?? I dont eat lamb, mushrooms, pumpkin, kumura, passionfruit or mango.

Sorry if none of that made sense. And TIA for any replys

This is prob not the answer you were after but i used to boil up heaps of veges , potato, pumpkin kumara etc and add water and puree then freeze in ice cude trays. Does take a bit of time but once its done you grab a few frozen blocks and nuke em.
Apples and pears are good to do as well in the beginning ,
When did he start solids ?

I did the freeze bulk lots for my boy till he was about 7 ish months then I just feed him what we ate and suplemented it with the frozen meals.
By 9months we just gave him whatever we were having including things like curry, apricot chicken, and anything else. If he was struggling then I'd just put it in the whizz for a second or two to make it easier to chew (he only has 4 teeth) and he'd be off. I think the earlier you introduce them to your diet the better as that's what you will be feeding them as they get older so they may aswell get used to the flavours.

At only 5 months he should still be eating very plain solids. Pureed veggies mixed with a bit of baby rice, that kind of thing.

I used to make up big batches of steamed (keeps more nutrients in than boiling) veggies, puree them and then freeze in ice cube trays. Likewise, I would stew down fruit such as apples and pears and freeze. Banana pushed through a sieve was always a hit.

The chart that Pepsi posted a link for is great.

I had DS on just fruit & veggies for a couple of months, and then started to introduce meat. i would make little casseroles so the meat was really tender and then puree it up.

I think given that he is still so young, you may have to keep things separate for him for a while. In a couple of months time you will be able to feed him more family foods.

FWIW, i still make up batches of food for DS and freeze them in portions now. Means I don't have to make our dinner so early, and he always has a few options ready to go.

I'm in the same boat as potato I still make bulk vege mash for the girls and freeze it once a week. It's such an easy side dish now that I can just throw in the microwave. In fact I'm making a batch right now It's handy too because even though H & E can eat the same as us now they eat at 4.30 and we tend to eat more around 6.30 when they go to bed.
But at this age I would suggest holding off on adult meals as bubs is still so little. We didn't start introducing adult meals until the girls were around 10/11 months. Sorry that probably wasn't the answer you were after lol.
