Aiden is 6 months and I still PND free too!

PTSD- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can occur after an incident that is percieved as traumatic to the person- its not specific to mums, can happen after a car accident/ natural disaster/ rape etc etc. The person has flash backs to the incident, thoughts about it cause panic attacks, insomnia etc etc. It can be worked through with Physchotherapy.
That my lay persons understanding of it anyway, having had it myself after a traumatic labour/birth experience.
PND - can happen to any new mum or dad and is not triggered by a specific traumatic event. Can often be caused by an hormonal imbalance after birth. Can appera early on, or can occur after a build up of stressful situations over time, like sleep deprivation, stress etc.

Yep I had PTSD already after a tremendously traumatic event at the age of 12 and it was severely exacerbated by trauma and domestic violence during labour.
PND is just a variant of depression and its referred to as postnatal because thats the trigger, whether the depression is hormonal or circumstantially.

Kellz so glad you're doing well its quite freeing isn't it??! I'm just glad I'm not 'broken' anymore (how I refer to myself not what I think of people with PND ) its so nice to enjoy my baby and my family and my life!
