Hi everyone,

I am wanting to hear people's stories about getting pregnant again straight after a miscarriage with no AF.

I miscarried naturally at 6 weeks on the 30th of May. Physically my miscarriage was very easy with no pain and about 4 days of lightish bleeding and a couple of clots.

We just assumed that my body wouldn't get pregnant again immediately and that it would take at least on AF to start. Weren't we wrong.

I have had positive tests from two different brands now and will be 5 weeks tomorrow using the first day of my MC. And naturally I am super scared and trying not to get too excited in case the same happens again. If it all goes well (fingers crossed) it is going to be a very anxious next couple of months.

Any stories to share? As the support was great to read on here after my MC and now I'm hoping for some reassurance.

Not me personally but two friends did this same thing. One wasn't sure cause she knew she miscarried but couldn't work out her dates as she didn't think she could get pregnant so quickly. Both happy healthy little girls

hi clarebear

i have heard that your body is most receptive to becoming pregnant just after a mc.. for me i had mine this year in april at 6weeks 4 days, it was the most awful experience of my life with a huge amount of pain and a lot of bleeding.. needless today my partner had to go away for work the following month so we couldnt try t hen..

probably for the best as i was struggling emotionally with it..

then we tried again last month using fertility friend chart and voila preg straight away.. so i had two periods and then got pregnant again,

i think your body tries to compensate for the loss, and i imagine it would be more readily able to accept an early pregnancy as the hormones will still be hanging around from the previous pregnancy?

everyone tells me to be calm and not worry about it,. but i understand how you feel its so hard not to be uptight.. but every day i picture my baby at the end and i feel better knowing it will all be okay.. and that the chances of mc are 1 in 4 so ive had my one i cant have another straight away! thats what i tell myself and it does make me feel much better... i hope that sort of helps somewhat?

I fell pregnant straight after my MC - foolishly thought as it had taken sooo long to get pregnant the first time it would be the same again.
Aside from quite the head spin and the constant worry about things going wrong again - this pregnancy went well (ok got PE but can't really blame that on the MC now can we)
Talk to your Dr - I found having some regular bloods taken good to see the hcg levels increasing (ok the drs where doing to see if it was a real BFP or leftover hcg from the MC)
You may like to have a 7wk scan - I was freaked out about it before hand cos I was worried things would go badly but it was worth it in the end.
I would tell you not to worry but thats just not really possible.

Thanks everyone. Trying not to worry and the easiest way to do that is not being too excited either (just in case). That being said being pregnant is pretty much the main thing I am thinking about.

Seeing a midwife next week and she said she will book me in for a dating scan at about 7 weeks. So hopefully that looks good.

My symptoms are also slightly progressing which is a good thing as my boobs are now sore as well as bigger. And I am still feeling constantly bloated. But at least I am not nauseous (yet!).

Thanks for the support and I will join into the due in March forum once I am a bit more confident. Stupidly scared I may jinx it if I join too early, but that's just being paranoid.

Sorry, just wanted to say I love this post
I felt the same way when i got PG again after my MC.. Dont sweat the small stuff, you only get each pregnancy once so make the most of it
In saying that I knicker checked every single time I went to the loo, my whole pregnancy (which was quite a few times by the end!) but it just kept reminding me that I am PG now, so just go with it
Anyway, I wish both you lovely ladies a happy and healthy 8 months Your babies will be here before you know it (trust me, it flys by!)

Prob not any help but 22wks into this one & I'm still knicker-checking! I've had 5 mc, the last was at 13wks last sept, i bled for almost 4 mths, then once ob sorted that out I got pregnant again 5wks later, no period. I haven't actually had a "proper" period in years, & had only 1 or 2 between my eldest kids. My ob doesn't think it's an issue though. I don't think the worry ever quite goes away- I'm up at almost 1am posting in forums I don't belong in!?! Fx for you, =).

One healthy baby later and a new pregnancy and I am still a knicker checker!!!!

Its a perfectly natural response after experiencing a loss....

Congratulations on pregnancy and sending you lots of sticky vibes!!!

hi clarebear, I hope things are still going well for you!

I m/c-ied our first baby on November 31st...then got my next positive pregnancy test on December 25th...so that's like as close as you can possibly get!

Without knowing the science of it all, my figuring was that my first pregnancy probably was going wrong right from the start. I had had a faint positive pregnancy test one month and me not knowing better thought that a faint line meant it was negative. The same thing happened the next month- faint positive- except this time it was at the doctors and he said "You're pregnant!" I had the blood test done and even then the HGC was lower than it normally would be. I started bleeding a few weeks later and my teeny tiny baby passed away from me on November 31st.

We were trying to get pregnant straight away again (well I was anyway!), even though the doctors said to wait- it was the right thing to do for us. And yea, got my next first pregnancy test on Christmas morning! Because I got pregnant so quick I guess my body went back to normal straight away after the M/C cuz maybe the pregnancy hadn't been going so well for the whole time...if that makes sense

Anyway pregnancy number two carried to full term and is now a bouncing, beautiful almost-2-year-old. I had no problems with that pregnancy, no bleeding or scares or anything which was an absolute blessing! I still worried of course, and wrapped myself up in cotton wool. I refused to exercise for the first 12 weeks, wouldn't drink or eat anything that had ever remotely been shown to cause a M/C, and was so so careful. Maybe it was a bit overboard but I think you've just got to do what you've got to do to get yourself through it! I relaxed a bit once we passed the gestation that our last baby had gotten too, then relaxed a bit more at 12 weeks, then more again at 24 weeks. I never really believed though that she would make it til I got to see her safe and sound out of my body!

Eek sorry for my novel! I hope you're doing well though You deserve a happy, healthy pregnancy!

Hi everyone,

Sorry I have been really slack about keeping people updated.

I think everything is still going to plan (fingers crossed). I should be about 7 1/2 weeks but that may be a bit off with the m/c. I have my dating scan next week though and that will hopefully settle me a bit.

I am mainly trying to not get too excited this time just in case. But when I hit the 12 week scan and if it's all good then I think I will go crazy with happiness.

I have more symptoms this time which is always a good sign but no ms yet some very light waves of nausea after I eat too much some nights but nothing major. I am very very tired when I get home from work but perk up again after dinner for a bit. And boobs are definitely swollen and tender. Also have a huge appetite and have to eat far more often then normal. Also thirsty and pee slightly more often. So all good.

Anyway I will let you all now after the scan and I will hopefully have a better idea of how far along I am too. Fingers crossed for a nice healthy heart beat :)

Scan was great she quickly found the little bubs with a strong heartbeat and a good sac apparently. So all good and now just counting down to the 12 weeks scan!

All good 12 week scan was great so for anyone reading this in a similar situation everything can be fine if you get pregnant straight after a miscarriage and in fact my midwife told me that your body is often better prepared for a new baby straight away as the linings are all ready as long as you were not too far along.

Off to get back up to date on the March 2011 forum now!
