Hi everyone,
Just after some adivce really, or to know if anyone else has been in the same situation as myself?

My husband and I have been through a rough time this year- woke up bleeding one day before my 12 week scan just after new years this year, had a D&C, then had to go back in 4 days later for a second one (retained product).

Following this I had an infection , bleed for almost a month and now almost 4 months later I still have no period and have constant cramping and pains which have been going on for last 6 ish weeks. I've been to the dr who is very vague about everything, done pregnancy tests and bloods etc and am def not pregnant. Feeling very down about it all, and starting to stress that something is wrong with me. My husband and I are just gutted about losing our baby, let alone dealing with all the issues that have been going on since. Its really hard to move on with constant reminders everyday with my body still not back to normal.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a period take so long to arrive after D&C or had cramps for so long?

Thanks for your help

So sorry you are going through this.
We lost our baby at 11 weeks pregnant 3 week ago now, and its really hard.
The fact u are still having constant cramps does not sounds normal at all after this long. Did u have a midwfe? Mine has been excellent post- mc, and I would recommend contacting her for help since u getting no luck from your GP- I think u need a referral to an Gyneaocogist.

Hugs Anna11,
Really sorry to see you are goingthrough this :(
I definately think you need to go back to the Dr.
Or did the hospital where the D&C was performed give you any follow up notes?-Im not sure where you are, but I know north shore have a clinic you can contact if you have any on-going issues
Ordinarily the bleeding should stop after a few days & AF should be back with 4-6 weeks. So make sure you get yourself checked out.
P.S. Take good care of yourself & your husband, I know first hand how devastating it is

I was told the bleeding would last 2 weeks but to go back back if I was still bleeding after 3 weeks - but I didnt have a d&c. The cramping stopped as soon as I passed baby/placenta, and the haemorraging stopped too- I bleed a wee bit for a few days after that, then just like the end of a period for just over 2 weeks.

Hi Anna11,

Sorry to hear about your loss I had a missed miscarriage last year in September and found out at our 12 week scan. I had a D&C the following week and had bleeding/clots (and other yucky bits, sorry TMI) and bad cramping after for about 10 days. I was told it was normal to last for up to 2 weeks so I didn't want to say anything until after two weeks... One evening I gushed blood all over the floor and totally freaked and went to the hospital. Luckily it settled down and I was sent for a scan the next day when they found I had a lot of retained product. I had to go back for a second D&C about 2 1/2 weeks after the first. After the second one I was all good and had very little bleeding but I spotted for about 6 weeks before I finally got a kind of normal period... My cycles have only just come right in the last couple of months.

They suggested I go on the pill to normalise my cycles for a couple of months but I said I didn't want to because I wanted to ttc again. It might be an option for you if your not wanting to ttc just yet or just to get you back to a normal cycle.

The early pregnancy clinic at North Shore Hospital have been amazing for me as Luckymama mentioned above. If you are in Auckland they may be able to help

Best of luck with everything
