So my husband travels...

Currently he is in Sydney for work, wont be back till late late friday night...

Whenever he is away, I hardly slepp (which doesn't help matters)

Why oh why do I always have to rub his face in it when he is away. Last night it was because he is getting dinners out etc, sleeping alone, not worrying about people breaking into the house and doing heck knows what, and not having a four year old hanging off you leg going "mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum, mum......" with an "i'm hungry, I'm dying, my tummy hungry..." everynow and then thrown in for good measure.....

take yesterday lunchtime....Picked Ethan up from kindy at 12.45. get home. Asks what he would like for unch. "nothing, not hungry" is the reply. I ask again after 5 mins, just to be sure. Nope still doesn't want anything. So I proceed to make my lunch.....just as I am about to eat....a little head pops up saying that he is hungry.

When I was "discussing" things wih DH on the phone last night (at 11pm..) I told him this...what did DH do....LAUGH.....ermmm hello!!!!

So I hung up.

What I am most concerned about: Is my depression coming back. I have been off Aropax since Oct'06. and I wasn't on just one tab, I was on 2 tabs so at the higher end of the scale (max you can take per day is three)

Just cant relax, whenever I go to bed my brain wont shut up ~goes off on some weird tangent about stupid crazy stuff......

arrrggghhh.

hhm i would prob say go back to your doc and just have a talk.

I find when i am really having things get on top of me, absolutely NOTHING is funny, nothing, every thing i take very very seriously. I have days like that every once in a while, and let me tell you, having a (nearly) 4 yr old can be trying cos they think they can make up their own minds, but change em every two seconds and tanrums cos well, apparently you are supposed to be able to read their mind when they've only just changed it.lol

It's hard having hubby away, definately, but i am sure it's hard for him (however many dinners out he has) to know that you are at home without him having to deal with things on your own.

Take some time to laugh, try to see the funny side of things and joke around with Ethan, when you find yourself getting angry over something little, remember if you sweat the small stuff the real stuff seems just so dam huge it's too hard to handle.

hope you feel better soon.
Janine and her 2 cool chicks, Paris & Ayja

My DH was away recently, but "only" to Christchurch.... do you think the lack of sleep is a worry thing? About him being away or you being at home alone (aside from Ethan but he's probably not much of a warrior in the middle of the night )

And how does Ethan take it when your DH is away? I got out some movies and tried to do some special and different things with my girls when their dad was away. A bit of distraction really.

Ethan's 4, perhaps he could have some consequences also. With Hannah (3 1/2) I will offer her lunch, perhaps two choices of what to have for lunch, and sometimes she'll just nibble and then say "I'm full" and get down. Many times I'm almost certain that she couldn't be full on that! (Her 2yo sister eats more than her LOL). But anyway I just tell her that it's the last thing she's getting before afternoon tea (or whatever next meal) and is she sure? And if she says yes, that's that I'm not being mean to her, I just need some sanity... 5 meals a day for 4 of us (me and 3 girls) is enough and I can't have grazing as well or the whole house would get covered in food LMAO!!

Oops sorry went a bit OT there. I don't know much about the PND, haven't had it myself, but I thought some practical things in place - like routines, or the lunch thing for Ethan - may help. (Probably in conjunction with meds if that's what you need.)

It is always hard when our DH/DP's are away! I think the kids know it and try us too!

I like what mum2paris has said. Take some time to laugh. I know it is hard as this is something I am struggling with right now....but get a good dvd that you know will make you laugh and just take 30mins to yourself and sit with a nice cuppa and enjoy! I always liked White Chicks or Laughing Samoans(but then I can releate that to my DH) I have them if you want to borrow them.

With the trying to sleep maybe you need to play some nice music as you go to sleep or try and distract yourself from your thoughts.
I have this and this is an over share but I rock till I clear my head, sounds mental but it worked for me.

Take Care and enjoy your time with Ethan while daddy is away! (maybe do something special like Busy mum suggests)
