Welcome to the newcomers!
I took Elevit first time around, but I have heard from various people (GP's, MW's etc) that it is a bit of a marketing ploy... they charge an arm & a leg for something you can get from your GP or MW for $3 on prescription. Depends on your diet too I guess, if you eat a decent balanced diet you shouldn't need the extra vitamins in Elevit, only the Iodine & FA.
But, as I said.. I took it first time around, and prob would again if we could afford it.
I am super tired too, in bed by 8.30 most nights, and still wake up tired! Eating like a horse.. also enjoying shapes & pringles. Anything savoury, which is the same as with preg #1 so I wonder if this will be another girl. We will have to do our gender picks when we all get a bit further along!

Hey ladies,
Im also enjoying Shapes at the moment, almost half a box a day to keep to nausea at bay! Intresting peytonsmum - I thought savory was a boy sign - Well thats a myth anyway. Im not huge on sweets at the moment, Infact id prefer savory things :)
Im knackered 24/7 never gets better, no matter how much sleep i have!! Im also eating like a horse...This baby making this is funny business.
Im so excited to start guessing genders of babies..Any of you have an inkling yet?
:) x

Wow there are a few of us now. Congrats to everyone, especially the first timers - such an exciting (and nerve wracking!) time for you. I'm starting to feel a bit queasy at nights and very tired too, which I'm taking as a good sign. Had my first bloods done this morning and will have another lot done on Saturday. Roll on Tuesday for the results.
hope you're all taking good care of yourselves

I've had a miscarriage overnight :(
had some spotting yesterday, then it turned red and I did a HPT last night which was a BFN.
Had lots of clotting and cramps overnight, and passed what I am assuming is a wee little placenta this morning
All the best for all of you ladies, hope your pregnancies go well! I'll be thinking of you.

Sorry to hear Velvet. Take care.
On the subject of Elevit, I was told not to waste that much money taking it when you can get other vitamins cheaper. I am taking the folic acid and iodine prescribed by MW and I also take blackmores pregnancy and breastfeeding formula. I have used this for all my pregnancies and its a good option if you don't want to spend so much on vitamins.

I couldn't believe how much elevit was!! I'm just taking folic acid and iodine, which seems fine if you get a balanced diet.
Have had a much better day with the ms, I even ate a subway at 10am....and then a whole bag of doritos at lunch! I reckon this one is a girl as my morning sickness has been the same as when I was pregnancy with my daughter (didn't get ms with my son)
On a different note though, have been getting some strange pains today. Kind of like an achy stitch like pain on my left side just under my trouser line. It's on and off but have been getting the odd sharp twinge there too, always in the same spot. Wondering if I should text mw or not?

Newbie Alert!
Hi all! First time on OHbaby and first time pregnancy! So excited! I think we're due either the 13 or 22 November. I'm booked in for a dating scan before Easter.
We're so excited! Slightly embarrassed it say that it was our first month even trying! So super stoked that we are about to get pregnant so easily!
We're new to Auckland, and living in Papatoetoe, but working in the East so any recommendations on a MW or birthing centre or alike would be great!
Yay for so many November babies!

congratulations mcmarsh!
elevit is totally out of my price range this time! i took it with my first baby and she turned out perfect, but I did have morning sickness till about 20 weeks which only subsided when i stopped taking it. im unsure as to whether it was related or not? just taking folic acid and iron at the moment.
I just spoke to my midwife tonight and she is so super nice! I'm so happy! She said she will definitely get me an early scan at about 8 weeks which I think is some time next week? Can't wait!
Has anyone told ppl yet, or is evre1 waiting til the 12 week mark?

So sorry Velvet, I really feel for you, will be thinking of you.
Riceybubbles Ive always been the same, if I take any pregnancy supplement I get really sick, but im fine with just the dr prescribed ones.
I am waiting until the 12 / 14 week mark but its really hard because my body is so obvious! Im still small everywhere else with a bump and my boobs are 3 times the size. I have been getting a lot of looks at work, but im still saying nothing which is awkward!
I have my second scan on the 27th March when I will be 8 weeks 1 day. Really excited but very very nervous too.

I'm so very sorry Velvet. My thoughts are with you.
I had my first appointment this week. I saw EVERYONE at the hospital - the obs and his boss, the midwife, the specialist diabetes team, the dieticians - 4 hours I was there!!! I was taking folic acid before and they've also said that I need to take iodine. I didn't have this with my first pregnancy - is anyone else taking it? My blood test results were all good from the previous week which was a relief.
I'm having a dating scan in 2 weeks although I'm pretty sure of my dates but it'll be lovely to see what's in there! I occasionally get sicky feelings in the evenings but not enough to put me off food! I also get the stabbing feeling in my lower tummy. I had it with my first pregnancy though so I'm not worried about it. I think it's just my insides stretching!
Congratulations to all the newbies....the November forum is getting big!

UK2NZMummy - I started taking folic acid before i was pregnant So when i went and saw the doctor, she gave me another prescription for folic to take right up untill the 12 week mark, and an iodine prescription which i take 1 a day also and will throughout the whole of my pregnancy. Its normal to be on folic & Iodene in pregnancy. At my next appointment im going to also ask for iron suppliments or something of the kind as i struggle to get out of bed in the morning, so tired & ive always had really low iron Levels so this could be contributing.
