EDD for now is April 5th but my cycle is wonky so I actually suspect it'll be after that.... but sticking with this until a scan tells me different

Three posts in a row - that is weird for me!!
I thought I would write a bit about me, here goes

I just turned 39 (July 21st) and I have two older children - my son will be 21 in August & my daughter has just turned 18, and she is still living at home. I have been with my partner for two years and this will be his first baby, we did have a miscarriage in Nov last year which was completely devastating (sp).

We are planning on finding out the sex of the baby as at my age I'm far to old for surprises I figure!!

Okay I think that is enough for now - wow I am getting tired so easily at the moment, I want to go to sleep and it's only just after 8pm

Hi there -- I'm a newbie to the site (and to pregnancy!).

A bit of information about me -- I'm 33, my SO is 45. Our EDD is 2 April -- this will be a first baby for both of us, so we are very excited!!

I'm also feeling incredibly tired! it comes in waves -- I just want to go off to sleep at odd moments.

Thanks for all the congrats, and congrats to everyone else.

Um, about me...

I'm Margo. Age 26 (but will be 27 by time I give birth ) I have two other daughters - Zamara, who's just turned 3, and Katerina, who's 16 months. In between the two I had one miscarriage at 8 weeks, immediately before we got pregnant with Katerina. So pregnancy isn't a completely blissful time for me, but I try to think positive

Currently I'm primarily a SAHM though do part time Tupperware in the evenings. In free time and/or when the girls will let me, I knit quite a bit... it's my nana hobby but I love it Also enjoy a bit of computer gaming.

As an interesting and completely random fact... Katerina's due date (well, the one we ended up with after two dating scans lol) was the 23rd of March, which happened to be Easter Monday. This one being due on 5th of April.... is also due on Easter Monday... two years later Tho as I said earlier I reckon my EDD will get adjusted closer to the 10th.

Yep Daizy, I'm back... lol I seem to get drawn back each time I get pregnant then get too busy and forget once bubs is born.

I'm a little concerned by my complete lack of symptoms... last time I had that I miscarried... BUT that said I've already had people tell me it must be a boy and the pregnancy will be totally different. Can't say I'd complain if I didn't have the horrible fatigue that was there for the first two!

Thanks asicsgal - it was a complete surprise (an awesome one) I must say, we had stopped TTC and were not expecting to get PG!! How are things with you? Will have to pop over to the TWW and have a catch up

Hi Margo, I don't have any major symptoms either yet. I certainly haven't felt sick, but I figure we aren't five weeks yet and some women wouldn't even know they were PG yet so I am sure the symptoms will kick in soon enough

I'm very excited that I finally get to join a due date thread. We've been trying for a while, seems like forever, with this pregnancy resulting a couple of months after finishing IVF. I have some health issues meaning I'll be induced early, but as I have no idea when that will be yet, I thought joining the April thread where we're all about the same stage was better for me than the March thread. It's our first pregnancy, and we won't be finding out the sex. DH wants to, but I figure it's my reward for going through labour.
So far everything is going well, feel a bit funny mid-morning till after lunch, light-headed more than sick, and yesterday was the first day I started to feel really tired. Still it's early days yet, but I already have a little tummy developing so I don't think we'll be able to hide it for long.

Hi ItchyFeet, congrats & welcome - it's awesome to see our little group growing!! I would like to add you into the list - do you have a preferred date that we could use
As for the tired thing - I am with you there, I get very tired mid-afternoon, wake up a bit in the evening and now I am just completely knackered - going to sleep very soon

I have a huge confession to make and I think I must be a bit bonkers - I am obsessed with POAS, every morning since I saw that faint line last Sunday the first thing I have done is test, I can't help myself, those pink lines are nearly the same colour now!! Please can someone tell me that I'm not the only one who does this - I feel so embarrassed

I did this every second day for two weeks and once a week till 8 weeks. I still have days when I want to POAS still but I sold the last of my OPK and HPTs so I resist and look at my 8 week scan pic. It does ease eventually.

Wow Chickielou 20 weeks!! hope you are keeping well and bubs is doing well Thanks for your well wishes too - we are rapt that we have our BFP, I know it's only been 8 cycles but it feels like forever

Thanks to everyone else for your congrats too, I hope we have a few more join us soon and Treen would love to see you here!!

Hope all the other April mummies are doing okay - when does morning sickness kick in, I am surprised that I haven't had any yet - I am getting very tired and incredible grumpy and have an enormous appetite, along with having to pee every hr or so but definitely no sickness. Hi there! Thought I would come over here as I got my blood results this afternoon and it is now official  Is all a bit freaky really as I was convinced this would take at least 6 months. We are still trying to get our heads around it but are really excited. We are due 10th April. DH is 35 and I am 34 and this is our first baby.  I have been feeling a bit nauseous over the past week or so, even before I got the BFP. Have also had headaches and sore boobs and bloating. Have been tired but also can't sleep. I thought it was me being a bit mental but I read that insomnia is one of the preganacy symptoms. Hope that doesn't stick around!

Has anyone contacted a midwife yet - I know it was only last year that I was pregnant but I can't remember when I contacted my midwife - think I might text her tho just to make sure I can get in with her. I have a wee bit of a dilema with contacting her tho - she is also the midwife for one of my workmates and there is no way I want work knowing yet, I am presuming that midwives must have the same confidentiality thing as doctors. So I am sure she would keep it quiet - but there is always the chance it would slip out unintentionally.

Not sure about you KiwiWonder but I have to laugh that I am looking forward to feeling sick - just so I actually feel pregnant - it doesn't feel real yet.

Bunny, my midwife knew before my husband did - rang her nearly straight away, waited til DH got home to tell him

That said, I'm having minor issues.... my MW, whom I LOVE, is likely going to be on holiday in April and has said she's fine to take me on on that understanding, that I will very likely have her backup for the birth.... or I'm free to find someone else. So right now I'm putting feelers out for other MWs but so far the only one who's gotten back to me is also on holiday in April!

That's a bugger Margo - I hope you manage to find another MW who you love as well. Have you met her backup? Maybe she might be great as well and you could stay with your MW. Last time I was pregnant if I hadn't lost the bubs I was going to meet my MW's backup for those just in case times.   Thanks tho for your reply, you have helped me decide and definitely tomorrow I will be contacting my MW, my teenage daughter told me off because I hadn't contacted the professionals yet - she is so funny, it was 'jez mum aren't you going by luck here - don't you need a blood test or something'

Posted By: Rovic
Date Posted: 03 August 2009 at 9:59pm

When I went to the GP last week she recommended a few midwives and said I should call ASAP as the good ones always get booked up quickly. I can't phone around from work so am trying to figure out when I can get home during the week to sort it out. If the 2 that the doc suggested aren't available, have no idea where to start. The doc did say to make sure that whoever I go with should have a nursing background as she has worked with some that don't and has been horrified at some of the things they came out with. So many decisions to make

Hi Rovic, I think most mw wouldn't mind being called in the evening - as they probably understand that newly pg women would find it difficult to call from work etc. If they aren't available maybe give the hospital a call and they should be able to give you some contacts, another place to look is online try this link

http://www.everybody.co.nz/Finda.aspx?mode=M&q=y&sx=-1&c=Hamilton&sub=-1&pn=&fn=&ln= - http://www.everybody.co.nz/Finda.aspx?mode=M&q=y&sx=-1&c=Hamilton&sub=-1&pn=&fn=&ln=

Hopefully that should help - good luck and let us know how you get on

Just got a positive this afternoon, little bubs is due the 15th April. so excited very early days shouldn't have tested till tomorrow but have thought I was for the last week or so. Craving milk, weird dreams and then my boobs felt like when I was breastfeeding ds so wasn't all that surprised. DH surprised me by coming home early so I gave him a bigger surprise as hadn't said anything about feeling pg as I think he was starting to think I was a bit mad. Ds is 2 and we will be leaving this one as a surprise. Think I will contact MW tomorrow as she usually fills up really fast. Oh I am 32 in a couple of weeks and DH is 30 We are in wellington

congratulations to everyone

Welcome ShellyBR and mwmia1   ! Congratulations  on your great news! We are slowly increasing in numbers which is really exciting. mwmia1 I am also in Hamilton and due on 10th April! I went to the doc on Friday and she said to get in quickly to find a MW. Check out Bunny's post above, it has a link to Hamilton MW page on Finda - Thanks Bunny . Have checked this out and will be ringing a few tomorrow. I came home to do this today but our flatmate was home . mwmia1 there are also a few posts somewhere in OB where people have recommended Hamilton MW so do a search on this for more info. Good luck

I hate heartburn - Poor you Bunny. Hopefully it will go away when you go to bed. I haven't had it today but I have been so hungry. I wasn't able to get full at lunch time and had such a huge bowl of fruit and yoghurt. Had to go and buy snacks 1 1/2 hours later. Hopefully this won't carry on as I will be a real porker at this rate! Mind you the doc did say that I should eat whatever I wanted to ... I woke up at 4.30 again this morning and wasn't able to get back to sleep. Brain was mush this afternoon. I told my sister that have been waking up early and she asked if I was UTD. I had to bite my tongue and say no as we're not telling them until we can be in the same room to see their faces. It's going to be a hard 4 weeks!

Bunny, I contacted a group of midwives, but was told they were still sorting out their March babies, and would get back to me in a week or so. So I guess I was a bit early...

I'll give them until next Wed to call me though, and then might ask around for others if they can't do it, as I'm a bit worried about leaving it too long and then finding everyone's booked up.

Apart from tiredness and very heavy breasts (DP is quite impressed at the rapid change), I haven't had any other symptoms yet -- does m/s usually kick in during weeks 6-8? Anyone know?

My main symptom is still really funny eating patterns. Completely lost my appetite today (no sickness, just no desire for food) which I was thrilled about lol as lack of appetite and fatigue were my main symptoms with the others. Still no fatigue here, but honestly if I don't have that this time around I will have hit jackpot! I'm being really good and taking Elevit from day dot tho, so possible that's helping.

When I had to ring my MW during work hours (mine doesn't do anything but urgent calls after hours) I used to do it on my breaks from my car.... private yet comfy as it's still kind of "my" turf.

I am soooo tired! Today is the first time that the tiredness has really kicked in. I am so looking forward to the weekend so I can sleep all day. My brain was mush by 3pm. I had to force myself to go for a walk after work and could only manage toast for tea.  On the bringt side, I haven't felt nauseous all day . Hope you have all had a good day.

Hi ladies,

Am really glad to be finally joining a 'due' thread! Yay!

Am new to oh baby, bit about me.. I'm Shannon, live in Hamilton, I'm 24, married to my love who is 30, and we have a wee man Cooper who is 15months on Saturday! We have been trying for while and just when I was starting to get over it, hello!

I think I'm 5 weeks, but am getting a dating scan next week to confirm (packed a sad the last time I had the dreaded and didn't mark the calander, oops!)

April must be the time for MW's to holiday! Mine was going to go, but said she would put it of for me! Sweetheart, I had her with my 1st and we get on really well.

I missed out on MS 1st time round, but it looks like I could possibly have 'midnight sickness'! Have been waking in the middle of the night super queasy!

Congrates and look forward to getting to know everyone!

Okay I am going to have another go at my post - I am so tired but I want to get everyone's opinion so here goes

Yesterday I called my midwife and found out that she is on holiday until 17th August, so I rang my doctor and asked if I needed to come in or if I could wait until my midwife came back from holiday (I was hoping that I could just wait) but because I had the mc last year they said I should come in to get checked out. So my thinking would be that I would get a confirmation pg test, blood pressure, weight, blood test form, script for folic acid and a packet of goodies/info to take home. Anyway my DP & I went along and all I got was a blood test form and a script for folic acid. Not even a confirmation pg test!! Was I wrong in thinking I would get all that?? I honestly felt like it wasn't worth it and I could have waited - I already have folic acid tablets as I have been taking them since the mc and surely a blood test could have waited, I know my blood type & that I am immuned to rubella (ok they are doing my hcg levels too, which I will get done again in a week or two) What does everyone think was my doctor really slack?

I hope everyone is feeling okay and not too much ms yet. I had my first nauseous spell today, I got off the bus after work and felt awful, my poor DP is being so awesome, he got me straight home and into bed - he is so sweet

Probably is bubs just getting comfy - I think weird pains just go with the pg territory

Am really glad to hear you say that Bunny. I have been having period like cramps since I got home from work. Was a really long and stressful day and I had to lift a heavy awkward box into my car. The worst thing is that DH has gone away for a 2 day meeting. And he has gone out to tea with lots of his mates who he doesn't get to see often. Will have an early night and hope that that part of what is meant to happen. On the bright side the increase in hcg is really good. I can't wait until we can start to tell people. Workmates are starting to think I'm a real nana!  When are you telling people?

I had period cramps for about 4 weeks last time and i have them again this time. They are nothing to worry about. Just stretching going on.

I have told quite a few people. Had to tell my boss because i know i will be useless when the ms kicks in!

I booked my MW today. The same one as last time. Makes it feel more real now.

Bunny, when i went to my Dr last week the pg test was still quite faint so he said do it again next week and come back at 8 weeks for blood tests and that was it! I thought he could of just done a blood test then. i thought he would of been a bit more helpful.

When I went to the doc I got all you mentioned Bunny, except the confirmation preg test. I didn't really know what to expect but think she was pretty thourough. It was the first time I had seen her and from what she was saying and the smile on her face, I could tell she loves the baby aspect of her job. (She also said i was very early and shouldn't even have tested yet. lol) I have an appt booked with a midwife next week to meet and see if we get each other. Will make it very real. Wish we were going to have a dating scan (damn that charting making me know exactly when everything happened!) as I think that would be great for us, especially DH. He seems a bit disconnected so far. Any ideas how I can help that? He is really excited and has been really clucky but ...

I think its a bit strange your doctor not doing a confirmation pt
my one did - all I said was I got a +PT last night, and he gave me a jar and off I went to get a sample lol came back did test, then got form for the bloods and script for folic acid and because of aidan being prem I discussed what it means this time around and asked for a referral to the hospital and a dating scan lol

I didn't bother with the doctor this time my midwife is organising the bloods. my doc last just did the hpt test and weighed me ugh. i have since changed docs cause we moved not cause she weighed me and they have opted out of the free maternity care but i do know they do a more thorugh exam with blood test and stuff. My mw said it was ok a pos test is a pos test and as I was it wasn't my first baby i could just go through her.

Cramping seems to have stopped - I do remember it from last time but your mind plays tricks on and freaks you out a little so fx baby well stuck in now.

My GP or OB didn't do a preg test on me either.
I was told that as HPT's are so accurate now a days they don't feel they need to.

Yay! It's the weekend. I am really looking forward to having a sleep in for 2 mornings in a row. I have been really tired in the last 3 days, going to bed at least an hour earlier than I usually do. Hopefully I won't wake up to early this weekend. Nothing exciting planned for the weekend, except making the most of the lovely fine weather. The garden is going to look really bare whn I pull out all the weeds.  DH is home soon. Am really looking forward to it even tho he has only been gone since yesterday.

We never did the POAS with this baby, just confirmed it with blood tests. I got a bit sick of doing them only to be negative all the time, and we agreed not to have them in the house so I wouldn't be tempted to test and be disappointed again.

I haven't made it to the doctor yet, although technically I'm under the IVF doctor (not literally!) for a few weeks yet. I have made an appointment with my own doctor for next week though. I'm not looking for a midwife as I'll be having an ob, and have been trying to get another specialist to organise that through the hospital for me. Worst case we'll go private, but I really just want it sorted so I feel that at least someone's looking after my maternity care.

I've been having a few stressful days thinking the pregnancy might not be continuing, because apart from the need to eat constantly, even though I'm not feeling hungry, all the symptoms suddenly stopped. Blood test today confirmed everything is ticking along nicely so I'm feeling reassured now. Also the sore breasts are back with a vengeance, which I'm strangely pleased about. I also have developed a noticeable pot tummy even though I've actually lost a little bit of weight, but no morning sickness yet. I got DH to take my 5 weeks profile photo and you can definitely tell something's going on.

Speaking of DH, he was so cute this week I just had to share. The other morning he was trying to get me out of bed to go to work and he said "come on you two, get out of bed". He's already talking to, and rubbing the bump, so it's really exciting for me when he takes such an interest.

For the due date list, I think it's 9th April, but I know it will be earlier than that, so will just leave it as unknown for now.

Thanks all for your comments - I guess the fact that I have been testing everyday since af was due and getting lines every day probably had her deciding it wasn't worth doing a confirmation test

We have told family and my best friend - who was so excited for us, but have decided to wait with work, probably until about 8 weeks. Still feel a bit guilty as I am being trained up to do my workmates job while she is away on maternity leave!! So in a way I should be telling work sooner so we can organise to get someone else earlier. Oh well weekend now so I will relax and think about it next week
