now we are going to be using old fashioned cloth on james when hes born till he a littel older then go to MCN, but I was just wondering what does everyone who use them use to wash them with?
we have alot of skin allergies in our family and have recently noticed even napisan causes a reaction on haleighs skin so Im not wanting to use it on his things.
what sort of covers do you recomend?
liners? anythign really, i just never used them except for a short time in hospital with haleigh but she went to disposables in there.
so all hints and tips would be great.
TIA

i treat mine the same way i do my MCN's. i dont soak in anything, but rinse and dry pail them then wash with persil. for covers i found the cheap baby city ones were fine when toby wasnt moving and i was changin him so regularly anyway.

cool so i can use persil no probs with them?
we use persil for all our laundry (soaking and washing).

Do I have ot do a hot wash?? I noticed my pack said hot or cold, I jsut dont have a hot wash hooked up to my machine as I never use it so was kinda hoping i might be able to get away wiht not having to use a hot wash in my machine.
my mum said tea tree oil in bucket, does anyone else do this??

i dont think hot wash is a must, in fact i would have thought that a hot wash would set any stains. and i put ti tree in my wash.

most modern covers use a stronger hook and loop than average velcro but the covers from baby factory etc have average velcro which isnt that strong which is why i would say they are only good really for those babies that dont move.

I used flats with Maya and soaked them in napisan but persil or even plain water would be fine. I never hot washed them either.

I used the pull on PVC pilchers you can get really cheap at Kmart, but the ones that velcro on are much easier to get on and off.

I still use flat nappies and covers on Kaia. They seem to work best for us.

I use bummis covers which are excellent!! We have three.

I just wash as normal, in cold water.

If you ever feel a need to hot wash, just pop the nappies in a bucket in the laundry tub and soak them in hot water before washing them in cold. It would be like a hot wash, cold rinse. (I have the same thing with my laundry taps).
