If you buy the bags of sand from bunnings you can always keep your receipt and take it back if you don't use it. If you measure the sand pit in cm and how deep you want it you should be able to convert to L on the internet.
i bought two bags and only used one to fill DDs sandpit Jo - if you want the other one feel free to come down and get it! It didn't fill it completely but plenty there to play around with
Shame on me? It wouldn't be stealing... more like 're-homing'.... and what do you do once you've finished with it? Chuck at the back with the rest of it's earthly bretheren like compost and old plastic chairs.
i think the play sand you buy is different than beach sand. its finer for a start and probably doesnt have yuck in it!
Imagine though if everyone took a sandpit load home every time they visited the beach!
The stuff you buy is heat treated to kill any bugs and sanitise it but seriously it gets dirty in a sand pit and I don't know of one sand pit that hasn't once had a cat poop in it. They are just too tempting and covers get left off. lol.
oh and just to gross everyone else my DD came up to me last year holding a used condom that she had dug out of the sand. Maybe the sanitised sand is a good idea. hehe
Not borrowing the sand from our beaches, they were closed earlier in the year because something was killing the dogs!
We used 2 bags (from placemakers)... you could easily get away with one though... Despite my protests DH felt it would need 4 so we now have 2 extra bags under the house. We figure in time we will need it...
yeah, we thought about going to the beach too but just couldn't bring ourselves to do it...what if we all did that? And yes there are very questionable things at the beach
2 bags from bunnings half filled ours ...so maybe get 3? I wouldn't want ours filled all the way to the top, enough sand gets chucked out as it is
