So Cory has eczema, and we think its dairy related.

We gave up with the doctors and paid so see a pead privately, which we finally got into see yesterday.

Cory is going to be allergy tested for practially everything under the sun, but we have to wait 2 weeks, because they want to see if he is allergic to soy, so need to have him on soy formula for that time.

Apparently 50% of babies that have reflux and ezcema are allergic to soy (i am really hoping not, because his skin has been practically clear overnight),

Anyway i was just wanting to know other peoples experiences with ezcema and soy ( and reflux).

and what i can expect from his allergy tests when i get them done in 10-14 days time

Why does he need to be on Soy to be tested? Normally they'd just add that to the RAST test? Soy allergies often go with dairy allergies, as parents often take their babies off dairy and give them soy instead. Unfortunately the exposure to it can trigger an allergy.

My daughter is allergic to both and Soy is a terrible trigger for her ezcema. If it was me, I'd not expose him to soy until you get the results of the allergy tests.

Just noticed your last comment. Is he getting a skin prick test or a RAST (bld test) done? Can only comment on the bld tests. Make sure that you go to a clinic that has a person who is experienced in taking bld from babies!! basically you have to hold them down while they take the bld. I always take E's blankie and that comforts her. It's all over very quickly once they find a vein. It's the being restrained that upsets some of them.

hes getting the prick test....doctor doesnt want to do the blood test yet.

Cory hasnt reacted to the soy formula, if anything his skin has cleared up almost 100% since putting him on half and half ysterday...so not sure what to think.

The pead put him on soy, because he hadnt been exposed to it yet, so the prick test could come up with a neg or something like that. (we saw the best private pead in wgtn), so i am trusting him.

Cory is doing really well on the soy so far, we are only doing 1 scoop of soy with 1 scoop of his other formula, but he hasnt reacted in anyway YET!.
