Yeah it is very sad, they have arrested a couple of people responsible for contaminating the milk. Fonterra wanted it pulled from the shelves 6 weeks ago, shame that it took so long and this was allowed to happen

Apparently they wanted to make it look like it had more protein in it.
Sounds like Fonterra did well, getting the PM and other officials to get China to recall it, after Chinese officials refused to listen to them.

Far out, no I haven't heard that at all and have watched the news every night snce we have been here. They are very Aus focused on the news here thou, the only thing I have heard to do with NZ is the election date and worldwide is the market crashes.

Some of the contaminated milk has ended up in NZ Very scary when you are making up formula. I checked ours and it says manufactured in liverpool, but it doesn't say where the raw ingredients come from.
I think it is so wrong that the government won't make companies say where stuff comes from, they just have it as voluntary. It sucks, some countries just can't be trusted to manufacture to the same standards that we would here and I think we should have the choice, but how the hell are you suppose to know if they don't have to tell you.

I'm not sure, it showed a lot of milk products with chinese writing being removed (i'm assuming was powdered milk products sold at asian shops) and then it showed a lady in the supermarket checking tins and removing some, she was holding a karicare tin but it didn't actually say whether that was one of the ones affected, or even if the baby formula has been affected at all. Perhaps they are just removing anything manufactured in China to be on the safe side, or perhaps the footage had nothing to do with this, you know what the media is like.
