Topic: Nias killers dad proud of them Posted: 23 November 2008 at 7:30pm |
Here's the article: http://www.stuff.co.nz/4770156a11.html
From the article:
William said Michael "is a good kid" who "is not violent".
"He might have done a little bit of stuff to Nia but it wasn't to hurt her, he actually liked Nia," William said.
"In some ways Nia was like his own child. He really loved her."
William, who sat through most of the month-long murder trial and was present when the jury read more than 20 verdicts, said while he accepted the result he remained "unhappy".
"I am still angry at what the jury decided with my two boys, we weren't expecting those decisions," he said.

there is one thing in life i will never understand and that is abuse of a child
and considering their dad didn't think they did anything wrong then i guess he probably treated them that way too - although that is no excuse for what they did
it is beyond sad what happened to Nia - however what is even sadder is that as I type this some other child in NZ is probably experiencing some of this type of treatment at the hands of someone who should be protecting and loving her

I saw that and what a load of crap how can he be angry at the jury when it was his children that killed her - they got what they deserved.

sadly I think you're right except that there's probably many children experiencing similar treatment.

Considering he has also been charged with hurting Nia he's obviously been a great example for his sons .
"That is Maori culture and that's the way it is."
That disgusts me. I don't know what else to say. How dare he try to excuse their disgusting behaviour on the grounds of culture.
Mind you, he doesn't come across as very intelligent:
"I am hoping I will not be inside over Christmas, that would not be fun."
Umm, yeah, coz being in jail any other time would be fun? *rolls eyes*

Oh and he is right to be proud of his sons, they obviously have a great relationship - one has apparently ordered a hit on the other one in jail.

I can not even BEGIN to explain how much i want to stoop to his level , get a big big baseball bat and wreck so much violence on him and his f wit sons that he goes through TWICE as much pain and sufferering as that little girl did.
I am so angry I am actually in tears.
I "like " my child, yet i would never throw her in a drier , or on the clothes line, or torment her to within an inch of her life so that her self esteem and confidence were so completly shattered she felt she deserved the treatment.
There was a very very disturbing photo in the sunday herald today , of children going back to 1999 , enough to fill all the edges, all kids who died at the hands of people they should be able to trust .
Of course the actual LIST started at 1991 ,with Delcelia Whittaker .
Nia is another victim in a disgusting long list , ..from 2000 to present day , just 8 years , there are 46 ,46 bloody names of kids who died, all before reaching teenage hood (apart from a couple who were 14 )
it is NOT right, and with attitudes from that ........"thing" , one can see how it often seems hopeless , how do you get through to "people " like that? obviously the evidence at the court case didnt do enough to show him .
Put him in jail with his "boys" and then let the other prisoners deal to them .
I wont even pretend to care .
Scared now boys?
I hope so .

I read this:
"What has happened has happened, but I can still say to you that I am proud of my boys.
"I am not embarrassed to be their dad. I will stand up for them until I die.
"That is Maori culture and that's the way it is."
and i thought no way is it 'Maori culture' and I know that and I am NOT maori.....

DH read that out to me yesterday and I thought no wonder those "boys" did what they did...their dad most probably tought them...that piece of &%$@*#*.
I am not Maori and so I cant pretend to know the culture...but I doubt that any culture promotes violence against children....these type of poeple give a bad name to Maori culture...I have Maori friends and I know that they would never ever hit their kids!!
I hope those to %$@*^ rot in jail or get killed!! I too wont care....nor would I shed a tear!!

excuse my french
Oh for F sakes, this is just ridiculous! What a disguisting group of absolute trash, to pick on a little innocent girl and then have no remorse, then to be proud of it and claim it's a cultural difference that the rest of us just wouldn't understad?? Pack of A Holes, DF reckons they are going to get it in jail cos that sort of this is frowned upon. Normally I would say "2 wrongs don't make a right" but in this case I hope the cowards get what they deserve.

That says it all really. What a fine role model he is to his sons (not!).
I am almost lost for words as I am so amazed that those words have come out of someones mouth. What a load of crap!
As far as I am concerned he is as bad as the ones that did it. What about owning up and saying "my sons did a bad thing and I hope others learn from this and we stop the cycle".
And to put it down to Maori culture!! I think other Maori should stand up and defend themselves from this man insulting them.
He should be strung up!

Dh and I were talking about this tonight the women that killed the 10 month old baby instead of her and those two boys walking around until the day they die break their kneecaps and back so they spend rest of their lives paralyzed in a wheelchair and can't defend themselves.

Great idea. Only problem there is that they wouldn't feel all the pain if they're paralysed.
They'll all get theirs in prison. 'Real' prisoners don't take too kindly to sex offenders or child abusers and they make sure life is hell. I've heard that the prison wardens are supposed to keep them segregated as much as possible, but sometimes 'accidentally' turn around or leave the room for a few minutes. Good.
