So I was just wondering if you find that threads on here help with your weightloss?

Do you feel motivated to go and workout when you read and see how others are going?

Yes.

This is gonna be hard for me to word right without sounding offensive so this is my little disclaimer saying that I'm not trying to be at all..

Half my motivation comes from seeing people on here make so many excuses about why they can't exercise or eat well and then weeks or months down the track they are still at the same weight/size or are bigger. I don't want to be one of those people or I'll never reach my goal.

LOL stacey so kind of like reverse motivation more than positive motivation! Thats probably one of the reasons i was inclined to not join in... didnt want to motivate others by my failure ...

Its not a lack of support. I've given you tips on how to help with weightloss like the swimming thing etc. I just said thats personally what motivates me. I don't sit around saying I judge you for whatever reason. If I see a way I can offer advice I give it. I also don't sit on the weightloss thread and say anything negative to people and what I said wasn't aimed at anyone. It was simply a statement saying I didn't want to be someone who makes excuses. I use to be that person and I refuse to be now. If you want to take offence to that then thats your choice as there was no offence intended

I don't think she did was offensive and she did put a disclaimer.

I had decided a while ago that these threads don't help me. I found that I was getting sucked into those who had every excuse under the sun as to why they can't do this and they can't do that and after a "quick fix".

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Woah ...

I dont think Stace meant to upset anybody ... although in this place, you cant say boo without someone getting offended (hence the reason I dont come by that often).

Im kind of like Stace ... I tend to get my motivation from being the one person that succeeds when so many around me dont.

I also tend to succeed the most, when people around me tell me I cant do something, then I do my utmost to "stick it to them" lol

Anyhoo ... motivation comes from within.
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)

I did it .. 41 kgs gone! From flab to fab in under a year LFs weight blog

Actually Jazzy it wasn't aimed at you at all. You have lost I think 20kg from memory. I commend you for that! The person that originally sparked that train of thought for me I think has left ohb or maybe has another username, who knows.

I only lurk in here cos TBH I don't need to loose weight, just tone up... I do find them supportive though for what I need to do (considering I never even post

And I'm with kebakat on this one, I don't find what she said offensive. Although I find it kinda true with me cos it hits a bell in my wee head (I KNOW I make excuses, thats no-ones fault but my own) I don't find it mean what she said.

It kinda gives me motivation to NOT make excuses and know no-one can do it but me... And if I do make excuses, then I'm not disappointing anyone but myself

I lost 20k last yr & aim to lose 20k this yr. I am that person who makes excuses, I am that person that looks for quick fixes, I am that person that likes to talk & share what I want to do, & I am that person that will get to my goal in the end.

I enjoy coming to the WLT & chatting with overs in the same boat as me. I can say in here what I can not say out there.

Meh, Stace was just being honest! Its human nature to strive to be like those we admire and avoid acting like those we do not.

While I wouldnt say I am particularily motivated by those who continuously fail it does inspire me to NOT be like that. Which is what I think Stace meant.

She is taking motivation from others failure but rather it motivates her to not be like that.

I find it good here, checking in each week gives me a goal though to be honest I am still in the "making excuses" frame of mind but thats also about retraining. I have eaten badly and been sedentry for so long that its going to take a small amoutn of time to retrain myself.

Man a quick fix would be nice, but at the end of the day I would just put it all back on again because I didnt have to work for it!

I've only just joined in here (started the 2week ww trial on Sat so thought I'd join here too), more than anything for a bit of accountability - the list with starting weight, goal weight and current weight.

I think it's good that others sometimes say they are having a difficult day, but that they will be back on the wagon again tomorrow. Makes you feel human when you have a slip-up :)

I also like to hear how you are all doing, as if you can do it, then I just need to get rid of the excuses so I can do it too. Especially those with similar weight goals etc.

I agree Zaylah & I feel a lot of the time when someone says they have fallen off or not having a good day it can help you turn yourself around & get on with it. When I have a bad day & someone comes in & says come on jazzy we can do it, its like yes we can. If you have a lot to lose or have been going it for a long time it is easy to loss the motivation & drive.

My problem at the moment is the school holidays as it can be really draining when you normal routine is disrupted. I have finally got a set time during the day where I have no children & that is after yrs of having no time to myself. If I had the drive to lose weight when the kids were sleeping during the day then that would of been different. For me it is here & now.

I don't disagree with what you are meaning kebakat & I sure as hell don't want to put on the 20k I worked so hard to lose. But it is a big thing for some (me include at first) to write your weight down & to be accountable for it.

I have been in this thread for yonks and have not lost any weight. I find the support great and even though it is disheartening that I have little success to put forward I am glad to be here learning form others who are doing so well. I know I will get in the zone and get there eventually.

We are all in a different place. I don't feel offended by what you said Kebakat - I just look forward to being in your shoes and it is only me who can get myself there.

Thanks for your input.

I don't think that what Kebakat said is offensive. I may not be part of the thread and have in fact avoided it all together but I am overweight know I am and its my fault for not doing anything about it. If I can't do what needs to be done then I have no one else to blame but myself.

Ok now to make myself accountable for my energy in goings and out goings... Maybe I should start blogging and food diarying it?
