ok so we know what is causing emily's exhema and it is dust mite so any tips to get rid of them would be very helpful. I
Now is it possible for a baby to devlop reflux at an older age vanessa is one and been throwing up once or twice aday she has not got a bug or anything we have been to doctor few times. Someone suggested she could have reflux.   I weaned her off me at 9 months onto lactose free formula as she had reacted to normal stull at about 7 months when i first tried to wean her and she alway's had a hard night if I ate too much dairy.   Just seem's odd that all of a sudden she is throwing up and then she is happy as after her tummy settles down so we think she is fine seem's to happen when she wakes up if she has a bottle before bed (which she needs to sleep) about 1am she wakes up and throws up.   any help tips advice please.

The only thing I know about to help with dust is to get rid of soft furnishing so no carpets, curtains or fabric sofas and to buy the allergy things that you can get for mattresses and pillows, expensive though of course to get wooden floors, blinds and leather sofas if you don't already have them. I don't think the mattress and pillow protectors are too costly though.

Perhaps Vanessa is allergic to cow's milk protein rather than being lactose intolerant. How old is she? If she is over 12 months you could try her on rice milk, you can get one with added protein and one with added calcium, the paed always used to recommend the protein one to us but I would sometimes by the calcium one if it was on offer. If the reflux stops whilst she's on that then you can just keep giving it or you could try to get her switched onto neocate but you need to see a paed to get the script for it.
If she is under 12 months then I would try the HA formula, it's been hydrogonised so is easier for allergy babies to digest, although not anywhere near as great as the script one it would probably be enough to give you an indication of whether it's the problem or not. The other thing you could try as well is goats or sheeps milk formula (avoid the soy one completely) I've heard of some people having joy with these, our doc always advised against it as it's so similar to cows milk formula but like I say it does work for some people, I think it depends how bad the allergy is.

hope that helps a bit

oh and cut down on acidic foods was the other thing I was gonna suggest as well, cos I know that aggravates heartburn so I assume would be the same with reflux.

cool thanks she was doing fine on the lactose free for the last 3 months but now she is just misriable allergies run in hte family i have the dustmite one my hubby gets seasonal heyfever as a child i was dairy free I out grew it (my mum is dairy free) both hubby and I get heartburn (me more when pg which is normal).
unfortunality taking carpet up in our rented house is not an option nor is buying new couch's etc.   Is there anything else we can do in hte way of maybe cleaning hte carpet those kids of things we have jsut been turned down by winz to help get her bedding sorted so even that has to be put on old for a few weeks.
And what have you guys found that helps with the skin it self we have all the creams etc but struggle to know what is working we cant use the hydro when her skin is raw and bloddy as it sheems to sting.   She has not been considered bad enough to go to pead's so we have never been taught to wet wrap etc so at night she mamages to do the most damage to her poor body.   she even has it all over her hands now as well.   Jusr feels like no one in hte medical feid really understand how bad she is we have had to bath her in hte middle of the night sometimes it can take 2 to 3 hours to calm her down and stop the scratching we are jsut completely over it.
