All right, I just had to share this thing my naturopath friend told me to do...

Emma Rose has had eczema since birth, and we're going through the list of remedies, both natural and doctor-prescribed. I'm pretty open to different suggestions for ways to help her skin clear up -- I've been known to massage her with olive oil one day and apple-cider vinegar the next, just to see if it would help.

On a whim I emailed a naturopath friend to see if she had any new ideas, and here's what I got back:

"You are not going to like this suggestion, but if you do some research, you will find that it is actually quite common in countries where modern medicine has not penetrated to the degree that it has here. I suggest you bathe Emma's face in urine. Old is better but fresh will do. If you can collect hers, that would be best, but yours will also work. Urine is sterile and won't harm her skin, and it has purifying properties that even cosmetic companies use in their formulations."

I was pretty speechless after reading that...

Anyone else get strange advice they want to share? Come on, tell me I'm not the only one with weird friends!!!

I can testify it is great in eczema/dermititis, I get it, and I used to get it REALLY bad on my feet (too tight to buy decent leather shoes in those days, so cheapies aggrivated it)and peeing on my feet (in the shower or in an icecream container to dunk feet into first). Does clear it up great.

OH MY GOODNESS! Jacobsmama! I don't know what to say! I'm glad it worked well for you. And here I thought my friend was SO weird, suggesting that! But... Do I have to put it on my baby's face? I can't do it! I just can't!

I'm not so sure how keen I would be to use it on my face, but it is very sterile, and you can actually drink it. It's just getting over the whole "ick" factor. maybe use a cotton bud? Depends on how desperate you are, I guess!!!
On Jacobs eczema, I use a moisteriser with lavender in it, I find it helps. I am trying to avoid any kind of sterid cream as it bleaches out the pigments in your skin and leaves white patches after excessive use.

LOL the "ick" factor is exactly my issue. A cotton bud is a good idea, and I'm not THAT desperate yet (we've only just started working our way through the different products out there, so hopefully we won't have to resort to urine!). The local naturopath (not my mate) gave me some Calc Phos 30c to give Emma twice a day for five days, and see if that helps. Ah, so many ideas! :)

Flaxseed Oil?
I've heard it does wonders for eczema... didn't do anything at all for Hannah. But that was possibly because I was putting it in her warm milk and you are not supposed to heat it.

Urine must have heaps of healing properties in it. My mums friend was diagnosed with breast cancer and did all natural treatment. Part of it was drinking her own urine every morning. She is now cancer free.

I have really bad eczema on my hands and was running out of ideas to help it. I used hydrocortisone all my life and decided to try foderma serum out. It's been amazing so far! I've been using it for about 3 weeks and my hands have cleared up so so much. Just make sure to use it regularly and you'll be fine!

she had been suffering with eczema since 2 months old.i tried lot of products ,nothing worked for her.hydrocortisone gives temporary relief & flares up once stopped.it breaks my heart that she is not able to sleep even for few hours because of the itch.she scratches all day & dosent get exposed to air at all.also she gets red bumps because of scratching.doctor says because of the itch, the infections spreads & lymp nodes swel.i dont want to get the hopes high & spend on another product.so mailed the Foderma serum to send me samples before buying .Marketing Director replied instantly & sent me the samples.i could gradually see the difference & bought 2 of these ones. Her rash is totally gone & sleeps well .Her body flares once in a while but other than that her eczema is gone .Cant thank Liz enough & i recommend foderma serum to anyone .

My beautiful baby boy was born a perfectly healthy baby. As a working mother, I had a perfect plan for him: breastfeeding/formula supplementation for 6 months, food introduction at 4-6 months, and then traditional milk and so on, and I stuck to that plan.

Mom quits job and flourishing career to manage son’s severely worsening eczema, keeping him at home full time, attending multiple doctor appointments, getting blood work done on various diseases, cooking allergy friendly foods and changing our lifestyle to a hypoallergenic one — read, read, read, track, track, track, stress, stress, and more stress.

my experience in managing my son’s severe eczema, food allergies, asthma, along awesome allergy free-recipes, latest research and treatment plans that worked for us. my son has all the symptoms especially around nose, cheeks and forehead that flared up after he had dengue fever. I did not want to use any over the counter medicine so I researched. Now he washes his face with a diluted baking soda water daily followed with application of virgin coconut oil on the face after the wash.

Thanks,
Nav
