Milano Capsule

We have one and they fit on all the Milano prams... You don't need a base, tbh I find it easier not using one. Also as far as I know they don't go with the Snap n Go.

Squoggs with the base have you made sure the metal bar isn't all the way up iygwim?

Thanks for your responses ladies. Argh - what to do?!?!?! I really want a base as I think mucking round with a seatbelt and locking clip everytime you put bubs into the car must be a real pain especially in bad weather!!! I also like the look of the Milano instead of the other brands and as mentioned before the weight limit on the Milano is better than most. I also thought the Snap n Go Wheels would be good as I don't plan on being out all day everyday so bubs wouldn't be in the seat all the time but would save having to shift a sleeping baby when I am out and about. Not sure I like the Milano prams (no offence to anyone) to clip the capsule in. Any other options out there either to transport the Milano capsule or a different capsule and base with good weight limit, light & not too ugly that can be used with Snap n Go's???

We kind of gave up trying to find anything that did everything for us. We were given a really good pram (valco) so bought the carry cot to go in it - which means I can leave pram at the bottom of the steps and carry bubs up inside while asleep.I really didn't like the Milano prams/systems, and having been given an awesome pram, didn't want to spend the money on a new pram (i.e. P&Ts etc) which did everything.  

 

Also have the Milano capsule & base, and a safe'n'sound car seat (currently with the ILs who we will be visiting heaps, and bringing carseat back here when bubs outgrows capsule).

 

TBH I think i will chuck bubs in the front pack or sling quite a bit, cos I tried the cat in the capsule, bugger carrying that around for any period of time! I think I will use the front pack for supermarket shopping & have a small umbrella stroller with a bassinet setting for other shopping when I dont want to carry the baby.

 

Its so hard aye  My husbands away a lot with work, and have no family up here,  so I have to make sure I have something to do everything as easily as possible as I will be on  my ownsome most of the time. Good luck with your decisions!

 

P.s. I think if I could go back to before I bought evertyhing, I would have just sucked it up and bought an ugly capsule that could fit a s'n'g - and by the time they outgrow the capsule, just deal with the fact that I will have to move it from carseat to pram.

Maxi Cosi capsules go up to 12kg or 13kg and are rated really well for safety. You can buy a base for them to fit in or just use a seatbelt. I bought ours online from a European website and even with shipping it worked out about $100 cheaper than buying in NZ (that's just the capsule). There are lots of really nice designs, we got a boring grey one but I would have gone pink if DH had let me!

They DO fit the snap and go wheels..... They just dont 'lock' in. You need the older version of the snap and go wheels that dont have the lock option- just a strap that goes over the capsule. We have hired one from baby on the move and it works great. My DF wriggled it and tried to detach the capsule from the wheels and he couldnt so he declared it 'safe' lol boys. I know they are in short supply tho, so you may have to ring around. Our Milano capsule is great too, nice and easy, and we have the base in the car which is fantastic, simple as, and dad proof! I definatly recommend, oh and the stroller too, thats also great
edit: Squoggs- Do you mean when you say your capsule was nearly vertical that your car has quite deep seats? The bar at the front, you adjust that after you have strapped the base in properly, its only there as a extra thing, and doesnt need to be super tight on the floor as the seat belt does the work on the base. Also if your seats are quite deep then get an old towel, roll it up, tape it up and put it where you would put your bum- right against the back rest, then sit the base ontop and strap down. The lady from baby on the move was the one who put it in our car and said that its quite a common thing to have to do with modern cars. We have had to do it as when you put the base it in wasnt level (as its supposed to be). I hope this helps

Took ours into plunket & lady showed us how to roll up towel - it looks way more stable now.

 

Good to hear they can be used on older s'n'g's - we only tried the new ones in babycity. They wouldnt sell us one even though I could sort of jam it in place, in case the capsule fell off and we complained. The limiting factor for the milano capsules on the new s'n'g wheels was the lack of the slot on the bottom, which made it sit high on the frame, and it was pretty wobbly.  Are the older ones you are talking about those white tubing ones? Gosh it would be so handy if they worked!
