Topic: Playgroups in Wellington Posted: 26 June 2005 at 11:55pm |
Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone knows of any play or coffee groups in Wellington (or even of anything to do for littlies), we are quite new to the area and have been to a Plunket group once but they only meet up once every three months or so so not much help.

Hi skirts! Try the "Wellington Babies" group at yahoo.co.au, we are trying to get together more often. Although, IO think you might already be a member?? (It is Ana here) otherwise have a look on www.everybody.co.nz, there are HEAPS of boards there with groups that meet up.
Good luck! I know the feeling, we have been here for 2 months now and still haven't really made many friends... Where in Welly do you live?

Ooooo If you guys start a coffee group can I join in?
Plunket were meant to ring m about a PIN (?) group but they never have
Haven't really done the coffee group thing and as I am quite young I don't really know many other mums.
I'm living in Kelburn/CBD but have a car so am keen to go anywhere!

hey guys, just had a thought, theres three of us here already, how about we start a group and then could let others know and if they want to join they can too?
Just an idea, if your keen let me know how often you'd wanna meet and what days/times etc, or we could just make them casual and post on here the next one etc

Sounds good! I would suggest signing up to the Wellington Babies group though too, lovely girls and I have met them a few times.
I am free pretty much every day as I am still waiting for the baby but can't drive as I haven't learnt yet... So if we met in town it would be good for me, although you are more than welcome to come to my place too! If we do meet up I could ask a few others to come along?

That makes me feel better, lol, I can drive, it just freaks me out so I never went for my restricted!! I really do want to learn because it will be annoying not being able to drive when baby arrives! We just bought an automatic car though and that might help a bit, I just find the other cars so scary!!

haha
My steering is the reason I am not going to upgrade my car stereo. If I do then I can guarantee I will crash trying to change the radio station or putting in a CD!
Even though I am female, I seem to be terribly bad at multi tasking in a vehicle!!!!
Ana - Wellington is probably one of the worst places to start driving in. The drivers are nuts!!! Proud to say that I am now one of them!
I've found it hard to adjust to driving back in Rotorua, because although Wellington drivers are a bit strange, most of the time they are considerate and let people merge etc. Whereas here, if you put your indicator on, people decide that is a sign to speed up to not let you in. Makes me so mad!

hahahaha, remind me not to come to Rotorua with my darling hubby, road rage....
I have noticed that the drivers in NZ seem nuts in general compared to Europe! But that is only from a passengers pov and I am sure none of you are nuts drivers...

I won't be there because I'll be sunning myself in Fiji... it's such a hard life!
I'll make an effort when I'm back for sure!

hey Nikki, Jake was absolutely fine on the flight to thailand. request a baby bassinet and an infant meal. If hannah is like Jake she'll be too heavy for the bassinet, but it guarantees you get the bulkhead seat which has a little room for hannah to crawl around on te floor at least, and less people in front for her to grab the hair of (so very very embarressing)
Also, feed her when you take off and descend. Jake had no problems with his ears but the bubba in front was howling! Good luck!!

Hey guys, Im not going to be able to make the Wellington Babies thing this weekend that Ana mentioned as I have friends down from Auckland. Damn. :-)
Thought we could maybe wait till Nikki is back in Wellington (14th) and organise something for after that maybe the week of the 18th. Will jump back online and post a date soon, let me know if there is any day that week that wouldnt suit. Was thinking first meeting is probably good just to do coffee somewhere kid friendly or at a house, so we can all get to know one another.
