    Posted: 04 October 2010 at 10:13pm
My two have been sharing a room since the Earthquake and us moving but ever since daylight savings Jack has been keeping Caprece awake. Thye play for hours and don't go to sleep until 9pm when they were going to bed around 730 pre daylight saving. Does anyway with kiddies sharing a room have any advice to stop the disruption or is it worth splitting them up? They really do not want to sleep in separate rooms but this two hour bed routine is driving me crazy

Have you tried staggering their bedtimes?

When I first put E & B in together I'd put B to bed 30 mins or so beforehand and then sneak E in after stories upstairs.
We then gradually made it smaller until they were going at the same time.

I don't know if that will work for your situation, good luck though!

I had J and T together as well. It was horrendous. i used to come in and they would have stripped the bed and be sing the mattresses as slides - not just once during the night, but two or three times. we ended up splitting them up and trying again when they were older - same thing occred. Jake needs his sleep, but taine seems to need less. they have JUST started sharing again and it is going well. We have their room and a playroom - so taine wanders over to the playroom and amuses himself while Jake sleeps. then Taine goes back into his room later on when he's tired. no tips really.

I suppose I should add that Jack still has a day sleep and we are trying to drop it at the moment so hopefully he is so tired after that he falls asleep. I think I might try again tonight if he doesn't have a sleep or otherwise the other room.

I have tried staggering bed times which works so well if C falls asleep straight away but a lot of the time she doesn't and then Jack stays up even later while we wait for her to fall asleep. Or he wakes her up and then she won't go to sleep again and they have a lovely wee party in their room.

Have you got blockout curtains?

We have blockout material velcroed to the window frame to eliminate all light. This helps calm things down immensely.

They're currently going through a phase of wanting the door left open when going to sleep so a few threats of shutting the door will normally help calm things down.

I split them up and things are so much better now, both in bed by 7 30 and I don't hear from them again! I guess I'll try again when they are older. Thanks for the advice
