Is there anyone out there who has had problems with this? I am sooooo exhausted. For the past 6 weeks I have been trying to introduce solids. My son basically lunges at the spoon, yet it has given him wicked constipation and has made his reflux worse.

The doctor has given me laxatives for him and told me to keep at it but it's not getting any better – it's getting worse. Yesterday was the worst day ever. He choked, gagged and screamed all day and stayed awake from 1pm till 10pm. After I finally got him to sleep, he woke every hour right throughout the whole night.

When we got up this morning, I just could not be bothered with the solids. So he hasn't had anything but breast milk for the entire day and the result? He's happy as Larry.

Has anyone ever started and stopped solids like this? I worried that his body will now expect solids and he'll be going hungry. Does anyone have any suggestions on starting reflux babies on solids? The only information I can find is that kumara, pumpkin and baby rice cereal are best first foods for reflux babies and this is what I gave him yesterday so that didn't work.

He is still very young and by the sounds of it not ready for solids yet. I know of moms that dont start until 8 or 9 months. If bubs is thriving on breast milk (which for me is a complete food until a year and solids is more an introduction to textures thing).

I will just wait. Or perhaps just give him things to play with. You dont have to neccessary to child led weaning. (if you dont feel comfortable) but put some pureed food on a tray and let him just play. He might or might not put some in his mouth.

But I wont really worry too much about solids.

After my sister had terrible allergic reactions to all kinds of foods, my mum didn't let the younger siblings have solids until 10months +. They were/are all fine

If he's happy with just breastmilk, I'd leave it at that for now.

My wee man had terrible reflux and as its turns out a dairy allergy. I started solids at 6.5 months but he never really took to it so just offered him finger food severy now and again. He finally started really taking to solids around 9 months.

I would wait too.

Also start with Pear or baby rice. By themselves first off. These will be the least reflux producing foods you can try. Avoid Banana for now as well as that is a terrible reflux food.

Also start very slowly, don't rush it & do it at your baby's pace. Any help wanted just ask
