Topic: Mini-goals and rewards Posted: 08 March 2011 at 4:26pm |
Do you have mini-goals? And how or do you reward yourself for achieving it? I haven't had mini-goals before, though I haven't needed to lose this much before either.
I've been thinking about mini-goals and here they are:
1. Get BMI to 'Overweight': 87kg - Achieved without realising it
2. Get to pre-Lilia weight: 79kg - Shopping for new clothes
3. 75kg - Facial
3. Get BMI to 'Normal': 70kg
4. Get to pre-Oliver weight: 69kg
5. Main goal: 65kg
I'm not sure about rewards though. I'm probably going to do some shopping, but then that will be more of a necessity rather than reward as I plan on not fitting my clothes anymore
What do you reward yourself with?
eta: added rewards and fixed spelling

I have been thinking about this after I wanted to go & buy some new walking clothes but don't want to till I am back to were I was.
1. 97kg new tops & pants for walking
2. 89kg
3. 79kg
4. 69kg
5. 65kg
not sure about rewards yet & may add in more mini goals as I need to lose 37.6kgs.
Might go & have a good think about...good question

I would do something nice for yourself - manicure or facial maybe or a new book you have been wanting.
You are both doing so well I did it about 7 years ago, through WW. I started at 78.1 and finished at 65. I am currently 62. My first goal was 5kg, then 10% of starting bodyweight, then 10kg etc.
Non food/drink rewards are important.

Hmmm yes, non-food rewards are a good idea! It's been ages since I've done anything for myself like a facial. I think when I get to my next mini-goal, I'll do a little bit of shopping, then I might pop another mini-goal in there and make my reward a facial or something similar. That *should* be about the time I head back to work so should all work in nicely

I love the reward idea also! I currently have post-it notes on my bedroom mirror. Blue ones for my weight and the date I weighed it. I only ever put a new one up if I've gone down in weight - with bf my weight fluctuates. And I have pink ones with my rewards.
Currently 92.8kg. 90kg I get a new HOTmilk bra - love HOTmilk! 85kg I get a hait cut & colour. Which I'm in desperate need of so hope it won't take too long!! 80kg I get a new coat for winter. A nice decent dress one, I've never had one before so that would be neat!
Oh I love the idea of a facial! Even a pedicure sounds nice also! Maybe a 77.5kg goal needs to be added!!

Hmm its probably something i should do.
i already weigh less than i did before i got pregnant with Toby, and what i weighed after i had him too.
But i hadnt thought about giving myself rewards when i reach mini goals...but then again i dont really have any mini goals and have even moved my main goal weight too. Its funny though, my goal weight is the same as some peoples starting weights...lol!

I had tones of rewards.
Magazines (Those things are expensive).
Pedicure
Massage
Facial
Shoes
Clothes
New watch
I still reward myself when Ive done something a little out of my "reach"

Bizzy same here if I took my weight loss from being pg with DS3 it would be over 30kg loss so far & that's not including little gains & losses over the yrs after him.
I have decided my rewards are going to be makeup, new walking clothes, running shoes, jeans & boots, clothes. So by the time I get to jeans I should of dropped a couple of dress sizes.
I am aiming on 3kg losses but will reward myself between 5-10kgs & if I can stick to my new plan I should be near goal or in the healthy weight range by xmas & then it is a full make over & a sexy summer outfit that shows skin & not flab

So I've been thinking about this for a little while and should get it all written out properly. I've decided to break my weightloss goals up a bit more, so that they never feel too far away. And the closer I get to my final goal, the smaller the gaps between rewards. Also I've got a couple in there which are just milestones.
Starting weight: 87.5kg
1. 87.0kg - 'Overweight' BMI - Achieved 3/03/2011
2. 82.5kg - New underwear - Achieved 1/04/2011
3. 79.0kg - Pre-Lilia weight - Milestone only
4. 77.5kg - New work clothes
5. 72.5kg - reward yet to be decided
6. 70.0kg - 'Normal' BMI reward yet to be decided
7. 69.0kg - Pre-Oliver weight - Milestone only
8. 67.5kg - reward yet to be decided
9. 65.0kg - some serious pampering!
Have to say it feels good to have a couple ticked off already

Ooh Bizzy your reward sound awesome! Like Jazzy, I wouldn't be surprised if you in double digits by then, you are doing so well!
SMW85 - Far from amazing, lol No real secret, I guess I made up my mind that I was going to do it this time! To start I joined in the 'Weightloss girls thread' and they have been great for support and encouragement and the occasionally kick in the backside I started using my old Turbo Jam DVDs (I love this workout, it's fun!). Then tried to eat better food and watch how much I was eating.
I got put on to www.myfitnesspal.com (thanks to the weightloss girls) which is a free website where you can track your food and exercise and can even have 'friends' (like FB) to support you. On this site I've also learned a bit about nutrition and fitness (though I'm still working on putting it into practise). And for the past 2 weeks I've been using Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred as well.
Feel free to come over to the weightloss girls thread and join us. Newbies are always welcome
