Topic: 10 months?? Posted: 17 August 2005 at 11:26pm |
Hey. We went to the doctors last week and Jake weighs 10.45kg. Is this okay? It's just that my friend's daughter is 2years 8 months and weighs 11kg. She's japanese so a small frame anyway, and jake's about 73cm tall. is this normal? I would chek but jake's latest hobby is taking books from the bookcase and throwing them all over the room, and now I can't find my plunket book

I think Jake is in the 75th percentile for weight and just above the 50th for height. Sounds pretty normal to me!
Han is following the 75th percentile for height and weight. So a similar size to the Jakester.
Maybe they are both destined to be little chubby kids. They are so cute!!!

you'd be surprised but lots of japanese kids are HUGE!. they have huge moon faces and chubby legs, so i don't feel too bad. Jake isn't too chubby, he looks normal to me, but people keep asking if he's 2. Stupid people. Hannah looks good too, so it must be okay. Thanks for that!

paris is only 11.4 kg now, but she hasn't gained much in weight really, i think at 1 year old she was about 8 or 9 kilos maybe? definately depends on activity level... once they start to move around they don't seem to look so chubba, even if they weigh a decent amount, cos they turn all that cute bubba-chubba into muscle. lolol

How much did he weigh at birth? Because that will have something to do with how much he weighs now.. Don't worry, he sounds perfectly normal, all of the boys in my Plunket group are big; Ella is the smallest out of all the boys and girls. She was only 2.89kg at birth though so I don't imagine she'll grown a huge amount - at 1 year she weighed almost 8kg. I imagine she'll be about 8.5kg now although her weight has slowed down a huge amount.

jake was 3.195kg born. It was 7 pound exactly. whenever i convert kg to pounds I work out how many jake's it would be. Quite conveniently really.

I could cry reading this - Maya was 4070g at birth, and at 9mths she weighed 7040 (3rd percentile). She was so sick and skinny, she looked emaciated, my poor baby! Looking back at photos of her in the bath in hospital she looked so thin and drawn.
Plunket usually expect babies to double their birthweight by 6 mths and triple it by 1 year.On her first birthday Maya weighed 7990g, and I conned the Plunket nurse to write 8kg, coz that was our 'magic weight' when she was really sick, and the weight at which the specialist would discharge us from outpatients. So she hadn't even doubled her birthweight by 1.
But now at 2 1/2 she is 12.5kgs (I think about 50th %), and 96cm which is in the 97th %, so she is growing well.

Okay this will make you all feel good about the weight of your kids, Caleb is tall for his age, like me, and is going to be 5 in Dec and he weighs in at 13kgs, he looks like a etheopian, I get the most horrible looks from people when I take him swimming, he is very white, Takes after my dad so hel never Tan, poor kid and you can see all his bones, if you saw me at the pool you would think poor kid the mum musnt feed him, its sad but I try avoid publis pools now, peoploe are so mean.. He a happy healthy lil boy, he was so sick at birth and has struggle dto eat and keep food down till he was nearly 4 he eats so much better now and I cant waith till he fattens up a bit.. Does make ity easier when I have to carry him, like in town when he decides his legs are going to fall off, lol

yeah, i gues i've been reading "those" books a bit too much. You know, the ones who assume every child is the same and if yours isn't YOU ARE A TERIBLE MOTHER WHO WILL CAUSE IRREPAIRABLE HARM TO YOUR CHILD!!! have no put books down and will listen to mum instinct.
