Topic: Help and support needed!!! Posted: 22 November 2011 at 9:33pm |
Hi ladies,
I am a bit new to this but here goes....
My daughter is 21 months and I put on a few kilo's while preg with her - was fairly big to start with. I have been trying to lose the weight for quite sometime. In May of this year I started a biggest loser comp at the start of it I was 101kgs 10 weeks later, I had lost 8kgs, was stoked : ) worked even harder but since then I put on 1.4kg and I have plateaued and I can't seem to push past it, I got to personal training at least twice a week, I walk constantly with my daughter and my husband. I am watching everything I eat, reduced portion sizes etc. I am trying so hard but nothing seems to be working. At the moment my motivation, other than for my daughter is I am the maid of honour at my best mates wedding in Jan next year and I don't want to be an embarrassment! Is anyone able to help me with suggestions?? They would be greatly appreciated

Hey, sounds like you are doing so good! and to have lost 8kgs already is great. I do think the first 5kg are the hardest, and you got past that. But every plateau is hard also! And they happen for me every 5-10kg!
From what I've read on here and elsewhere you need to shock your body to shift from a plateau.
Have you tried Weight Watchers? I started in October, I had already lost 15kg but plateaued and it's helped me lose 5kg.
Maybe speed up your walking, or try some hills, great workout they are! I'm a runner and they say hills are speed work in disguise! Not everyone likes running, but the results as amazing (and the legs!) but maybe during your walks run between lamp posts. Short intense bursts of cardio are great for fat burning.
Good luck!! And keep us updated!
PS: how is the personal trainer going! I'm so jealous! I would love one! What sort of stuff do they make you do? Ive got cardio sorted but I need to start weights or something at home.... But it's so boring! :-)

i find that if i change what i eat it helps... also make sure you are eating enough, its not very good if you are only eating the minimum your body needs.

Talk to your PT. It's what your paying them for! They should be able to give you advice about your eating and exercise that will be suitable for you because they have been working with you.

Thanks everyone!! Yes I will be talking to my PT - he is fantastic, he hasn't been well over the last couple of weeks but will definitly be asking him.
@smw85 - what is the cost of weight watchers?? I am only working part time since having my girl and can't really afford to much. We mix it up a lot at PT, cardio, uppper body, lower and core. I am mainly focusing on upper body and core at the moment. I find him really good, he is very motivating : )

WW is about $18 a week, with no minimum or max membership. So you can stop and start whenever. I was $1 to join. But you buy the books, kit, info etc for $50 which is very useful.
I joined for about 5 weeks and I might now just go once a month cause I know what to do and what it is all about. I am really keen to join a gym now, I need to tighten up my upper back, arms and that horrible bra overhang!! Lol
What does your PT make you do to work those out?
