Hi all, just joined this forum as I heard about it on the everybody website.
Is anybody else of the blended family variety.
My fiancee and I have been together for over 2yrs and he has a 5yr old daughter and I have a 13yr old son who lives with his dad and visits on the school holidays. A 10yr old son who lives with us and a 8mth old little girl. Would love to hear from anybody but especially those in a similar situation.

Hi Tania, and welcome to OhBaby. It's a great site Yes, I have a blended family too - my partner Jono has two children, Becca 9 and Anton 5. We have our baby on the way (April 21st dd). J's children live with their mother, and spend weekends and holidays with us but I'd be happy for them to come to us full time if they ever wanted to

Hi Tania,
I'm Emma and I live in Auckland with my partner Willie and our daughter Maya (2 1/2). He has 4 children from previous relationships aged 23, 20, 17 and 12. His 12 year old daughter lived with us until recently when she moved in with her older brother as we had a few "wicked stepmother" issues. Life has been peaceful ever since...

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome. Yes we are looking forward to going to Raratonga but in going it will also mean our baby will be 16mths, which will be sad as she is our last one. Les had a vasectomy about 7 weeks ago, and I am looking forward to never having to take the pill ever again. We both love children and babies but you have to stop somewhere and they eventually grow up,lol.
Has anybody else been to see the 'Wedding crashers', we went to it and it was quiet funny, but I guess it depends on your sense of humour.
Boy is it different going from boys to girls. But in saying that it has turned me into a shop a holic as there is so many cute things out for little girls.

Heya Tania!

I'm part of a blended family... I have 3 step sisters and my own brother and sister. Fortunately for my parents most of us have left home, but my little brother still gets shuttled between them both. Makes for some interesting manipulative games from all parties!

I like my large family though. Makes christmas that much more fun!

Been to Raro too about 8 years ago now. Was beautiful! Where are you staying? My Mum was a travel agent so we got dragged around to check out quite a few of the resorts.

Hi Tania,

Yes, we are a blended family. My husband has two children 8 and 3 (both different mothers!) and we are expecting our baby in December. Luckily we all get on really well. Mark moved to Saudi before me so I carried on having the children every second weekend. Ufortunately the children aren't allowed to come and visit us in Saudi so we will be taking the baby home in the first school holidays next year. My mother and sister are carrying on having the children while we are living over here.

Hi all.
We have the boys home for the holidays which is great, but boysterous. To most people it would get confusing with our routine, but it works for us. V goes to his dads for the first week and spends it with his dad and big brother. Then N and V come home for the second week on the bus. Then Les's daughter L goes and stays with her mum during the holidays as we have her full time during the week. The only one we don't have to worry about transporting between parents is T, which is nice. We also share christmases and birthdays with ex's. Sometimes I wish I didn't have to do it, but then it is a nice way to have a break from the kids every now and again, and know they are with someone they like to be with.
We left T with her grandparents for the first time last friday. It was nice as it was the first time I have left her for a night. I just forgot to take my breast milk expresser and was very full by the time I got home. I managed to express 300mls in 30 minutes,WOW!!!!.
Anyway how does yor routine work for your blended family?
Yes we are looking forward to going to Raratonga. I have already bought my dress and the girls dresses and now I just have to get the guys and the boys. The resort organises most of it and you can buy wedding packages, depending on what you are looking for in a service. We are also having a party when we get home for the people who couldn't make it to Raratonga. We sent invitations out 1yr in advance so people had plenty of time to save for it.
What is everyone do for their school holidays?
Where is everyone from?

Hi Tayna

I got married in Rarotonga one year ago this saturday. We absolutley loved the place. Stayed and got married at the Edgewater Resort. Everybody is so friendly and helpful. Am even thinking about going back again we loved it so much. Cool place to go for dinner is the kikau hut just down from the hotel. Beautiful meals. Best of luck

oooo I stayed at the Edgewater. It was loooovely. Chlorine in pool stung eyes though. May have changed in the last 8 years. And I pretty much spent 3 whole days in the pool. And I was 12. So anyway, I don't think you guys will have the same problem

Everyone teases us because of the cyclones that are flying about. But I said they would have blown themselves out by the time we get there and if they strike before we get there, we might have a whole new resort to stay in,lol.

We looked at a few resorts and it look like the best for you money and there is a vurtial tour on their web site. We are going for 5 days as a family as you have to be in the country for 3 working days before wedding to arrange wedding certificate. And then we are sending the kids back with the grandparents and staying for and extra 3 days for our honeymoon.
