You may or may not be aware that I'd weaned off my meds which I was feeling really great about. Apparently my mental state or something does not agree and I ended up having what felt like a complete breakdown this morning.

Thinking about it, it has been on it's way. Just naturally I didn't really notice the increase symptoms and was putting it down to tiredness from the recent weeks with Maddie.

Monique (my dr) had instructed me to increase/restart meds if things went to pot so I've done that and B has taken the rest of this week off to help out while I get back on an even keel (husband of the year award anyone!!! ).

If necessary I'll also pop in to Monique on Thursday.

Thanks for listening (or is that reading??)

B sounds like a fabulous support Paws.
Be kind to yourself about taking the meds again. It is a difficult transition to make and combined with Maddie having a rough time too it was bound to knock you around a bit.

You're so good for putting it out there, it really does help to hear other's stories.
I'm always so disappointed in myself when I go backwards and can't talk about it until I'm feeling better again!

yeah i was gonna say that too, good to have support.

and what you may find is that the tiredness may be your trigger too.. cos that's mine.. if i get overtired consistently, and ignore it and keep saying yes i can do this yes i can help you yes i'll just finish this.. bam. it all falls down and i melt down.

I've had to learn to take care of myself, and be a bit selfish sometimes.

hope things get better for ya!

Big

Good on your man for being there with you.
I hope you are able to have some time to yourself to rest and relax.

Don't be hard on yourself for being back on the meds, they are there for a reason!
Take Care

Go on you for taking the steps to look after you.  You will get there.  I know how hard it must feel.  It was bad enough having to go back up with my dose when I tried reducing it.

give yourself time.  It's ok to not be ok yet.

Well I am feeling a bit chirpier now so the meds must be kicking back in plus the sleep and help with B being home will have helped too.

What is annoying me now is that a lot of people have a loss of appetite with depression...not me, I seem to eat everything is site. Now I need to lose the weight AGAIN!

Weight gain was a downside for me as well when I was on meds. I was on them for 3yrs, so gained about 15kg........trying to lose it now....

So weird cos although you are on the meds that help you feel better, the weight gain made me feel bad at the same time. strange...

small steps.... that way the extra weight won't wobble so much...
seriously though, in the big picture, good on you for being so self aware that you knew to get to Monique so quickly. Yay for B for taking the week off...and great to hear that you are feeling better. I suppose the extra wisdom must come with that extra age....
