Your Routine...

Hey.

Now i know most of you have a feed, play sleep kind of routine. But what do you do for play??

I read to her, play toys with her, put her on her tummy and watch her roll to her back endless times. We have a tummy gym that also stands up that she loves bashing the things that make noise.

What else can i do? I also give her nappy off time but im kinda thinking what if she gets bored of the same old same old??

I feel the same way with Tom. Generally he wakes and we feed, then its nappy off and on to the floor. He starts on his back but within seconds he is on his tummy and trying to get places. I have to admit I often leave him to do his thing whist I do the washing etc, coming in to check on him and talk to him (or be mean and move his toys further away so he has to work harder). Then when he gets tired of that I will pick him up and sithim on my knee and we chat, or sing or bounce up and down. It is exhausting. He doesnt seem bored....but I know I get that way.

Going for a walk kills time as does putting a blanket outside under a tree. he will lie happily looking at the branches moving and loves being a nudey boy there.

he is also ticklish under his right armpit so I tickle him a bit to get the giggles and then I end up laughing and he laughs more etc.

If he is happy I just need to "be" near him rather than actually do anything with him. But I also do thingswith his body, like touching hand to foot.

In the morning I kill a bit more time with feeding him solids and also in the afternoon.

I always struggled with the before bed time as Tom wakes around 4.30 and doesnt go to bed till 6.30 - 7pm. So now when he wakes it is feed, nappy free time, solids, bath (with either me or DH - loves this) massage (if he's in the mood otherwise its a quick rub with moisturiser so he smells nice) dress, booby, bed.

God, I'm exhausted just writing this. Thankfully Tom is sleeping well during the day. He is currently down for 2hours.

You will find that a baby gym will be a good amount of stimulation for another few weeks until bubba can hold light-weight rattles etc. They have a short-term memory and lots to explore so they won't get bored in the same way as adults. Sounds like you're doing good.

I have a love to sing dvd that we watch together and I move Lily to the miusic, doing the actions. We have done that on a nd off for a couple of months.

I haven't read the other posts so dunno if I'm doubling up but this is what we do for play:

- go to the pool, he loves splashing in the water
- go to the park, I hold him in my arms and jump on the swings, he thinks its fantastic
- just go outside and play with grass, it's something different for his sense. he loves looking at flowers n stuff.
- jolly jumper
- exersaucer (if you cant afford one, do u have a toy library near by)
- reading
- popping him in his bouncinette and plopping him in a room while I'm cleaning, they love watching you do normal everyday things
- go visiting, sometimes ill go to mums, she will look after him while im a lazy ass watching tv

Oh i bought a jolly jumper but after 5 mins she just hangs there staring at the floor
