So my doctor put me on Aropax a couple of weeks ago. What a really good drug but the weight gain? I have put on like 4 kg in 2 weeks!
Adding that to my already big frame, I can't use it anymore so have come off it and back on Prozac.
After doing some searching on the net, I have found that weight gain is a huge side effect of Aropax. Has anyone else had to deal with this? And if so, have you come off Aropax and lost the weight you gained?

not me personally, but my Mum is or was not sure anymore on it and she put on load's of weight.

the weight gain is a side effect of a few of the antidepressants, I know of someone else on Aropax who had the same problem hehe maybe we need to be subscribed weight loss pills in the same prescription as the ad's

I put on about 15kg while on Aropax...
Have since lost over 10kg.
But all that is out the window now! LOL

Well, at least its not just me. Bee, how long did it take you to put on that 15kg then lose it again? It was so fast it was scary!

I put on 15kgs since last August when I went onto aropax. I could believe it either because it went on really fast I have since changed meds and it is starting to come off

OMG that is a lot to put on in a week. I have never taken it, I love what i'm on and its working so no looking at changing any time soon. But if I have to i'll remember the post.

LOL I was the same, I just ballooned and couldnt understand why...Then it dawned on me the meds. Ekk I started asking around as I have a few friends who are GP's and they said yes the meds can cause usual weight gain in a short amount of time. Wish I had known sooner I would have gone with something else.

Problem was that Aropax really agreed with me except the weight gain. Hence coming off it. Tossed up the feeling good and putting on weight thing but decided in the end that if I got any bigger I would actually start to feel worse cause of the weight going on and my physical appearance!
Weighed myself again this morning (am a bit of a serial weigher) and found that I have managed to get 2kg off since stopping. I have also been peeing like nobody's business so I wonder if some of it was actually fluid retention. Either way, I don't care - I want the weight off and its getting there so I am happy!

Yep same here, i am trying to shake it off at the meoment but despite exercise and eating better, it's not shifting. I am hoping to try coming off it in the next month or so, so hopefully it will shift then, but yeah about 15kg in the last year...but I felt the benefits to my mental wellbeing were worth more

I haven't been back to the GP, I just started using Prozac again (the Citalopram started giving me massive headaches) and have been on it for about 5 days now. Feeling great so am going to stay on this, I have about 2 months supply. Will be going to see the doc at the end of the month for other stuff so will talk to her then about swapping back. I def need to be on something tho, stopped taking the Citalopram when the headaches started and turned psycho again. Not gooood!
