Elective C-Section and Contractions

Hey guys, can anyone please give me some advise. At what stage once you've got contraction should you head into the hospital knowning that it's going to be an elective C-Section anyway?

My date's been set for the 28th April, but I've been having contractions. Last night they were 8 - 10 minutes apart but only 5/6 on the pain scale. If I was going natural I would have though staying at home would have been the thing to do until they got to 5 minutes apart or the pain was unabearable.

I phoned her last night around 8 and said I'd call if they showed sign of sticking around, felt a bit silly ringing her around 11 when they were still the same (wish I'd rang now) went to bed and I guess they weren't that unbearable cause after a hour and a half I was asleep. Woke up this morning with an extremely tired body (everything aches). I feel the contractions "may" be coming back... thought I'd ring midwife and ask her the above question once I know if the contractions are back.

They are back... I've just had a shower to see what happens, and I'm going to ring my midwife the only thing I'm worried about is what if they stop? they aren't extremelly painful compared to last weeks back problem (couldn't move) and my induced labour last time (back labour)

Just be prepared to be admitted even if they don't do the c/s. I kept having contractions but didn't go into active labour (didn't start to dilate) but because my waters had broke and because he was breech so chance of prolapsed cord/infections etc they kept me in until I had him 3 weeks later. Should also mention I was only 35 weeks when things started though which is quite different as you are already term.

Nothing... after waiting all day for my midwife to head to the hospital she just rang in the last 20 minutes and said that they won't accept me until my contractions last longer due to the fact that they are totally full at North Shore Hospital. I so hope this doesn't last too long... I thought the idea of an elective c-section was to remove the risk of going into labour and having the issues which restrict you from having national birth.

She's told me to rest and hopefully they stop.

Ah the joys of NSH - they're always jolly full. Yes that is the idea behind electives.

I had issues with them too - tried to book my elective C sect for 2 days before my due date. Luckily my midwife was bolshie enough that they got me in at 38 weeks. But boy oh boy did they try it on!

My midwife stated on Wednesday that his head is down and it doesn't appear to be moving (she was pushing side to side) so maybe????

Thanks NeoshasMummy, I'm hoping that they will either stop or go on but increase in intensty so I can get on with things. I guess my biggest stress at the moment is what if this baby gets destressed and I don't know about it. I mean if my birth canal is the wrong shape will I actually experiance natural contraction that get stronger without the pressure of the baby moving down the canal. I wish there was a midwife hotline that I could ask without being judged, I asked my midwife at my last appointment if there was any way I could bring the c-section forward (I had reasons, and good reasons at that) and now I believe she just thinks that I'm trying to get him out sooner... and honestly I'm not... I understand why they couldn't bring it forward.

I really have no idea, I really wish my first midwife was still around as I really wanted her this time. I actually feel this midwife doesn't quite take things seriously, weather it be with me or with everyone. I've rang her with concerns about movements and I always hear, rest up and if you still feel nothing by tomorrow give me another call... so I started ringing "tomorrow afternoon" and still she'd put it off. Instead of seeing me every two weeks and then weekly, she decided that we would skip three weeks between going from fortnightly to weekly...
