Topic: 1st birthday party ideas Posted: 02 September 2008 at 7:45pm |
Hi there
My little man is turning one on Sunday!
I was just wondering if you could please help me out with some ideas for finger party foods for 1 year olds. So far I was thinking cheerios, different shaped sandwiches, fresh fruit, pikelets, mini savoury muffins, birthday cake, raisins, cheese. Any help be much appreciated, only expecting about 8 kids so not too many mouths to feed!
Also what shape birthday cake did you do?
TIA

for food we had, cheerios, mini spring rolls, a fruit platter, mini sandwiches, fairy bread (bread with hundreds & thousands on- which Ella picked up and eat one by one), sausage rolls, raisens, homemade biscuits, cupcakes..plus the birthday cake. We definitely had too much food, as the kids were all too busy playing and only really had snacks.
For the cake we did a fairy cake- which considering who have a boy is probably not that much use

You can also have
twisties (or some other cheesy chippie - as they are quite soft and don't have corners like chips)
marshmallows (my girls love these!)
chocolate covered raisins
wafer biscuits
candy bananas
and watered down juice for drink.

I think you allready have enough food idea there.
As for Cake....I ordered a Number 1 cake for DD and it was iced and had 5 icing blocks with DD's name on it...as in one block had Z and then the next A etc to spell her name and it was arranged like those play block at the bottom of her cake. It was way tooo cute!! But I didnt make it!! (Tooo Lazy).
Good luck!

Well I had two birthday parties for Kahtrell, the big family one, we had a bbq and a huge rectange shaped cake that we decorated with a one iced on it and his name etc and a huge banner with blues clues and elmo on it. For the second party (coffee group one) I had pizzaz, biscuits, sandwiches, sausage rolls fuit juice, and made a one shaped birthday cake.

Sounds like you had some good ideas for food.
We did individual fish cakes, just with sponge and iced them a different colour.
