I always said I'd get Alex's hair cut when it started getting in his eyes, and now it is.

There is not a chance I'm doing it myself, I'd probably cut his ear off or something! So that means I need to find a hairdresser (preferably on or near the north shore) who does a good job on toddlers' hair.

Any tips or recommendations?

We didn't get our DD's hair cut until she turned 2, until then I just 'controlled' it with clips and ties - but I guess it is a bit different with a boy!

We went to a kiddy hairdresser, the whole salon is set up just for littlies, but it was overseas. I can try and find out for you if there are any on the Shore, but I don't think that kind of setup is as popular over here.

I think there might be one or two in more central parts of Auckland though, will try and find out about those as well.

Do you have a Just Cuts in the area?  I'd got to them... or a salon close by that's trying to match their prices on kids haircuts.

I've still not taken Michaela to the hairdresser so no idea what they cost but I'd be suprised if you had to pay more than $20.

I would love to know your secrets for getting clips and ties to stay in. The minute I put anything like this in Sam's hair she pulls it straight out.
I am thinking we are going to have to go the hair cut route here very soon

Yeah I ended up having to chop Isla a 'geek fringe' cos it was all over her face and there was no way she would keen ties or clips in. She will now tho,..and looks cuper cute with pigtails and her little fringe!

Oh I am so glad some of you didn't cut your child's hair till 2+yrs! Jack still doesn't really have any hair, it is growing in a natural mullet and getting longer at the back but still very short on top. We joke that he won't get his first cut till he is 50!
Sorry to thread-jack!! Just glad I am not the only one not cutting their child's hair yet!

Ooh thanks Pearls, I would love to know if there are any on the shore, or even in the city would be ok too!

LOL at the first haircut comment. Keziah was a baldy when she was wee and we used to call her "Dr Evil" LOL, but now she's got some hair and it's actually getting quite long so we can't really comment about that anymore

His mullet is getting quite bad! I noticed that it is actually get long at the back and still very short on top. Not sure if I want to take him to the hairdresser just to get the back cut when the time comes!

Just to update this, it turns out that Just Cuts will cut a baby/toddler's hair for the very first time for free! (as in, the baby has never had a haircut before).

We got it done today, and they had a little portable DVD player which sat in front of Alex while he was in the booster chair, and a wiggles cape which he loved too.

Oh, and they gave me a special envelope with a lock of his hair in it.

After the first haircut it's $12, so they told me.

Yay, that sounds so cool Mikaela!

Gremlins turned two on Tues and are still months, if not years, away from needing a haircut.

Maya had her first haircut at a special kids salon in Ponsonby, I can't for the life of me remember what it was called tho.

I believe that an appearance in our time is very important because it makes an effective impression on a variety of people. And that is the reason why I advise you to watch your hair very carefully and use different haircuts.

I also had this problem for a long time and I was looking for a stylist who would suit me. But it was very difficult although, in the end, I was able to find exactly the people I needed. They make cool platinum blonde hair https://lovehairstyles.com/shades-platinum-blonde-hair/ These guys are well versed in fashion and haircuts and they can give me a number of useful tips. It turned out to be very interesting and fun for me. I am happy that I can now deal with them, their work deserves attention.
