Just a few questions..
Our specialist said he would apply for a special authority number so we could get neocate advance more cheaply through the pharmacy. That was nine days ago and we've received nothing in the post. We have virtually run out of the sample tins we were given. My questions are;
-how long does it usually take for SA to come through?
-Do you just take the SA letter to any pharmacy when it arrives?

Hiya, biolab will ring once they have the authority number and will then courier out to you (that costs nothing) so you get it the next day. You can choose to pay for a months worth or 3 months worth (each script is for 3 months). That's if you can pay by credit card otherwise I think you might have to go to them and pay.
Originally our number took about 2 weeks to come through.
If you are really desperate though ring either the paed that is arranging it for you or 0800 NEOCATE and they should be able to arrange another tin or 2 to tide you over.

You can get your GP to ring up and chase it up, especially since u are running out. It can take several weeks, but we managed to get the number over the phone (well the GP did) before the letter was sent. You then just tell the chemist the number.
I pays to find out if your chemist keeps any cans in stock- a lot of pharmacies dont, but if u lucky they might order some in for you before u have the number, so u at least can get it form them as soon as u have your number. Otherwise u may have to wait and day or 2 for the pharmacy to order it in.

Aslo u can ring nutricia and tell them u are waiting for the special authority number etc,..they sent us a can out for free when we were desperate waiting for Islas SA to come through.

ETA- yep that was the 0800 number I was thinking of.

Just got an answering machine with the 0800 number, so I rang the specialist clinic and they've put two tins aside for me

Yay. I think nutricia might only have one or 2 ladies that look after the neocate stuff as i've had trouble getting them before, but they are always really good at phoning back.
