Topic: Tummy numbness Posted: 29 January 2008 at 9:08am |
After having a c-sect nearly 7 weeks ago my tummy is still numb about 2 inches above & below the scar. I have heard varying reports of when (& if at all) it will disappear. Both my MW & GP told me it may take up to 6 months for the feeling to return.
For those that have have c-sects did you experience numbness & when did it disappear? It's obviously not a huge deal but it does feel kind of odd, especially when it gets itchy

I remember the numbness and I also remember talking to my friend about it (she had a c/s 3 weeks after me) I think he may have been about 2 months then
At a guess I would say that the feeling was back between 3-4 months, I have complete feeling back now as well. (and no more itching yay)

Numbness still there 3 mos after my c-section!!! It's fully healed now, but still itches like crazy at times
Feels really bizarre to touch it and not be able to feel it properly

mine was only numb for the few weeks where the area above the scar was swollen. Now it's fine. I get ingrown hairs along the scar area though and not sure what to do about that

Mine was numb for around 8months. I sometimes get ingrown hairs but noticed it's better if I gently exfoliate & moisturise. I'm due for my 2nd csect in less than 3 weeks. Has anyone noticed more numbness with subsequent c's?
edit: I didn't exfoliate until after 6months.

I've had 2 C-Sections, one 5 years ago and another just 6 months ago - I had numbness after the first one and again after the second - so for me I guess this is something I will always have, but on saying that, it is a reminder to me (as well as the scar mind you) of my two beautiful boys. I'm with everyone on the weird sensation when you have an itch though - ooohh !!! Sorry I don't have any better news than this.

bump... so I've got quite a significant numb area after my c-section and we've recently noticed the area of numbness has gotten bigger It used to be roughly an oval the width of my scar and from just above my scar a couple of inches high. Now it's the same width but it goes all the way up to only a cm or two below my belly button. Has anyone's numb patch gotten bigger like this? I'm wondering if I have such a large numb patch because of my wound infection - I was in hospital for a fortnight - it seems to cover the same area that was covered by the infection. But hoping it will start decreasing in size soon!

I have numbness above my scar, but I have heaps more feeling there than I did a few months ago, its a weird feeling being itchy there but not being able to really feel when you scratch it lol.
Maybe ask your doctor weegee, Im sure its all normal, and like you said you had an infection so that wouldnt help.
Is it totally numb or do you have a bit of feeling there?

I can feel pressure underneath the skin IYKWIM, it's just the surface that I can't feel. I do get the itchy thing too!
Due to go to the docs to top up on a couple of prescriptions anyway so will ask about it when I'm there.

The numbness is still there (it's almost 5yrs now for me) but it doesn't feel so firm under there as it used to. The area has certainly not got bigger - that's odd.

I remember having the numbness for quite a while, I've just had a good feel around my scar and it feels normal now. I also broke my ankle 2 years ago and had surgery and that was numb for ages too.
