I had Freddie, but just for scans. One comment he made sticks out, something along the lines of unusual (insinuating 'bad') ovaries. Mary Birdsall later corrected and said my ovaries were fine. Also he failed to read my notes that clearly said I needed ovidrel, and I had to convince him it really was necessary (after nearly a year of not ovulating on clomid, it really was necessary).

How have you found him? We are currently TTC #2 and have moved to Repromed.

We have him. Not that great TBH. Had 3 IUI's and haven't seen him for almost 2 years (the nurse does the IUI's). I am aware of a few people I have met on this infertility journey who aren't big fans and have requested a different Specialist. However in saying that, I have friends that absolutely loved him and have a little boy from IVF. My take on it is he is sometimes gruff and can seem a bit mean on occasion, but he is referred to as the pioneer of IVF in NZ for a reason. And because of this and his years of experience, we are staying with him for our 1st and only funded IVF later this year. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply's, I am feeling a bit annoyed with the public system in general! I saw dr graham in December had to get two test done which we did pretty quickly and then have not seen or heard from him since. tried ringing him and he said he had referred us to the hospital to get a LAP done but I hadnt received anything in the mail or had a phone call, and when i rang the hospital they have not got me in there system.

Im just feeling really frustrated at the moment, we have been trying for 3 years now, had lots of tests both me and my partner and we are still no closer to have any answers. I was hoping this year we wouldnt have to keep doing tests and that we would be making plans :(

Totally understand. He made me go through the LAP & HSG even though I knew there was nothing wrong with me. (we have male factor infertility), That was a delay of well over a year as it was govt funded. They both showed I was fine. At our followup with Freddie after my LAP and HSG he asked us what we were doing there??? Even though he said he wanted to see us after I had done both these procedures. So I understand your frustration and in my experience you have to be your own advocate. You need to call tomorrow, ask reception to speak to Freddie's Nurse and leave her a voicemail to contact you urgently regarding the next step. And tell her you are still not in the hospital system re. the waiting list for a lap. Call her every day if need be but they seem good in getting back to me. I have found success in chasing the Nurses rather than the Specialists. Let me know how you get on tomorrow.

Thanks Kenneme I will. Just one question, how long did you wait to have your LAP done?

Um, I had to have the HSG first. And I think I waited 4 or 5 months for that. Then about another 5 or 6 months for the LAP. But check this out, the hospital (Greenlane) didn't believe I was who I said I was or something random like that! I had to send in my Passport (copy of) and marriage certificate and D/Licence too. I was born in NZ. And then had to call about 5 times because they said they didn't receive it *sigh* so that delayed me a wee bit. So about a year in all. But this was 2 1/2 years ago now. I did my back in so lost 1 1/2 years due to being in so much pain I could hardly walk. Thankfully it seems to be healed so we have had 2 IUI's this year but both unsuccessful.

Hey I am up North too! We have actually had 3 IUI's. We had 1 before I did my back in and the 2 others this year. Pain in the bum having to drive every day to Albany for blood tests and so much petrol. I had to leave my job to do this because it requires so much time off.

Leave your job, that doesnt sound good! I work for my mum so hopefully she will be a bit lenient on me if i have to go down that road. it fells like a real disadvantage living north of whangarei and having to take so much time off work for tests. i was reading posts on the ivf thread and the amount of test and some everyday that they have to do makes me a little worried too.

Oh you are north of Whangarei? You will be sweet. They will call you on the day you are needed in Aucks. You can get your blood tests done in Whangarei. I am near Wellsford so I have to drive an hour 10 to Albany every morning before 9.30am for bloods pretty much from day 11 usually until about day 18.

Then I have to wait around in Albany until they call me to let me know whether they need me to go to Greenlane for treatment that day. Sometimes I have to wait until almost 2pm! I get sick of window shopping at the albany mall then if they don't need me I can get in the car and drive home. But it makes for a long day. So that's why I can't work even part time. I don't know which days each month I have to be in Auckland. Oh well, hopefully it will all be worth it when it works a?

Well i rang today and they said that they had sent the hospital a letter in December requesting i get a LAP done. But the hospital didnt have me in their system at all :( so nearly 4 months wasted. The fertility clinic were going to fax and send a letter to the hospital today. So hopefully something comes of this.

I remember these kind of frustrations. You have to be onto them the whole way. But it's hard when you don't know to! Hopefully they will put you in now as an urgent case. I know this can happen. Sorry to hear of this though. Sux a. Fingers crossed they see you asap. I used to put in my Outlook Calendar at home on my email who I spoke to and then do a follow up 'appointment' on my calendar for like 2 weeks from that date to ring back for a progress call. All the best.
