Hi all,
[COLOR="magenta"]My name is Lorna and I am 34 my DH is 35. We have just reached the top of the waiting list in CHCH and have the consent day in two weeks. We have been LTTC for ten years and in that time had three miscarriages including an ectopic where I lost a tube. My AMH is also very low and my DH has boderline problems. Would love to share this journey with people and share our experiences. We live in Nelson. Look forward to hearing from anyone and also anyone who is going through this journey in the rest of NZ. Hi Lorna,
Congrats on being able to start your IVF! What date do you start?
We have been TTC for 18months+ I have had a MC, Saline scan which found I have PCOS, tried clomid for 5 rounds then more recently have tried Letrozole & Metformin which I have had no luck with. At my Appointment yesterday I have found out we will be doing IVF and in FEB 2014!! im so excited we have a plan.
It would be really nice to know of your experience etc and have someone going through the same even though mine is 6months away :)

Hi all sorry for being AWOL just got back from our long weekend away yesterday! Well it went really well on Monday. The only downside we had was that the scan I had showed that my egg reserve is worse than ever but not a total write off yet. We are starting on the Long Protocol and will start down regging on CD21 which is the 31st August and hopefully EC on 23rd. We are just sooo excited that it is finally here. Anne - We certainly do seem to be in the same boat ![](smileys/smiley1.gif) Be great to be bump buddie and be great to share this with someone. Which FS so you have, we have Sarah? We stayed in Kaikoura and then went back to Nelson via Hanmer. Thought it would be nice to make a weekend out of it. As for preparing - caffeine has gone, no alcohol, eating healthier but no acupuncture yet, however, I am considering it. And for EC and ET we are planning on staying in Hanmer for the week thought it would be relaxing. Just so far to return to Nelson in between. Brownie - Thank you for asking and wlll be keeping you updated

Lorna, Great to hear it all went well on Monday, you only need 1 egg and 1 sperm so you will be fine.
i have been eating lots of protein to get my eggs ready for the big egg collection day :-), also I am taking royal jelly, Conenzyme coq10 and good quality fish oil vitamins. I have been trying to exercise but I don't enjoy it, I would prefer to sit and watch Telly :-)
My baby doctor is Greg.
The journey is finally beginning for us, very excited and scared at the same time. We have to keep relaxed and positive!!
If you want to watch a funny movie on making babies, watch The Babymakers (2012)

Thanks for your kind words I have heard great things about Greg. I do like Sarah but just found it all abit rushed on Monday and not much really said. They were also unable to give us our drugs straight away as they are short staffed however that is all fine as I should receive them via courier next week. Has Greg also started you on the pill? That all sounds great what you are doing. I am on elevit and fish oil tablets but not tried the coq10, that maybe my next buy. I know what you mean by teh exercise I also rather sit in front of the TV ![](smileys/smiley36.gif) Will see if I can hire out that movie. It is certainly an exciting and scary time for us. Where do you work and how long are you going to take off around EC and ET? Hope you dont mind me asking.

He didn't say anything about conceptive pills, but I have heard some people take it before the injections, so I may have to take it yet.
I downloaded the movie off iTunes, I rented it for about $7. I actually thought I had downloaded for my trip to chch to watch on my ipad but hadn't downloaded properly. Not sure if you have an ipad or not, but if you do, you can download movies for your trip to chch, it makes the trip go faster and keeps your mind busy and not stressing on everything.
How is your partner coping with everything, is he taking menevit, keeping fit and eating healthy? My partner is only really just started to reduce alcohol, take menevit, exercise. He has been pretty good really, he was a bit embarrassed doing his sample in the little room at fertility associate, that was a lot of pressure for him.
I have an office job, it can be abit stressful at time with difficult clients, i wont say which company as blenheim is small :-) I was thinking I will take 2 weeks off maybe,? They said I will have to have a scan in chch before the egg collection, did they mentioned this to you? I am not sure how many days before the egg collection? So the whole process of scan/ egg collection and transfer will probably take a week and then I was thinking, I will probably won't want to go back to work straight after the embryo transfer, as I just want to take it easy for at least 3-4 days for the implantation to happen.
I wish they would implant 2 embryos, I would love to have twins!

I do have an Ipad so will consider putting some movies ob it certainly will help the long trip. My partner is doing pretty good, he has been taking Menevit for a few months now and he did dry July and is continuing through with that until after EC. Caffeine has been his biggest issue, I have only just managed to convince him to cut it right down. As for the sample Rebecca forgot to ask Sarah if she would like one from him therefore we didnt provide one. However he has provided a couple in the past and Sarah is satisfied that ICSI is the way to go. I have spoke to the nurse at FA re. how long we may need off, she told us to book off from the Saturday as depending on the first ultrasound we will have in Nelson they may do their ultrasound two days before EC. She also told me they may not do the EC on Monday if the follicles are not ready so will do the EC on Weds which then means the ET may not be until the following week. We have decided given all this information to stay for a week in Hanmer ![](smileys/smiley5.gif) I am also going to take two weeks off work as want to give it every chance. I work as nurse in one of the busiest heaviest wards so I certainly do not want to jeorpodise anything luckily so far my manager has been very understanding. I understand you not telling me, I do flight nursing and transfer patients from Blenheim very frequently so have got to know alot of the locals And I agree would also be great if the transferred two embryos, this is something my DH really wanted.

What a shaky day! I was on level 2 of my building and boy it made me scared, I ran out so fast I forgot my car keys and couldn't get back it after, all I wanted to do it get home. Did you feel it much in Nelson Lorna?
I am glad your partner has been behaving himself, we are also having the ICSI procedure, which I am glad because I think it really helps.
Lorna, being a nurse you will have no problem giving yourself injections, what a cool job you have, helping save life's.
Early to bed for me tonight, it's been a love day!

Hi Anne glad you are OK being so close to Seddon. It was really scary and yes we really felt it here, I was at work and a patient had a cardiac arrest in the middle of it...not fun but she is OK now. I felt all the after shocks as well. Do feel sorry for all you guys over the hill and in Seddon, I think Wellington get too much attention!! And have to say I have a needle phobia, weird I know, I have no problems stabbing people every day I just don't like them near me I am also glad we are having ICSI as do believe it will be of more help. Looks like we are pretty much on the same road

Hi Lorna, my period arrived yesterday pm, so day 1 today, in 21 days I will start on the drugs - 8th sept, they are sending me the bag of drugs this Friday. It is starting to feel real now, Its been a long wait! i am already getting emotional and I haven't even started the drugs :-)
Do you have your drugs yet? Not long until you start, next Sunday for you! Exciting! I can't believe you have a needle phobia being a nurse, very weird :-), will your partner give you your shots?
How you getting on with your diet, vitamins? I am trying to be good, it's hard to eat healthy all the time. Everything we eat now will have a impact on our precious eggs.

Hi Anne, wow very exciting for you now not long and you will only be a week behind me. I have also been emotional but in a good way so hope we get our xmas bumps.
Drugs are due to arrive today, anxiously sitting here waiting for them, will let you know if they do arrive. And I will inject them myself, not too sure I trust my Husband to inject them lol Will you do your own shots?
I am not doing too bad with the diet and I am eating alot more healthier. It is really difficult to watch everything you are eating and drink but will all be worth it in the end!!

Thanks Brownie | Hi Brownie, Yes I got my drugs on Wednesday was very excited just seems so much closer and real now. They did forget to put in the lab form though so just make sure you have everything when you receive your pack which I hope is very soon for you. I was officially on the waiting list as of September last year was told would have to wait 13 months for the first pre IVF appt and then IVF possibly December but here I am so things do appear to be moving fast. Not too sure about the letter, what else does the letter say as I sent ID etc with my original stuff last year. Which FS are you with and where do you live? I hope you hear soon, I gave Rebecca a couple of calls beforehand just to get an idea, so give her a call! Crossing all fingers for you that you do IVF very soon and ask as many questions as you like
